Hopefully someone will be able to help.

A friend and myself built his new computer this evening and are having troubles getting it to work.

Here is the set up:

EVGA Z75 SLI MOBO
850W Thermaltake Black Widow PSU
16 GB Corsair Vengance RAM
Intel i7 Sandy Bridge CPU
EVGA GTX 690
600GB raptor HDD for OS (os not installed)
2TB storage HDD not installed

We got the system built and it powers on everything on the mobo lights up and runs. but nothing will display on screen. The post codes alternate between 44 and 45. iif anyone has any ideas please let me know.

First and foremost, go and return that PSU: The Thermaltake TR2 RX Black Widow PSU series are not good PSUs and can barely provide half their rated power. I recommend the Corsair TX750 V2 750W as a replacement. You're just risking long term damage with that PSU.

Second, That mobo does not have a good track record on Newegg. As such, it may just be a defective mobo. Hit up the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide" on what to do when the PC does not POST. Report back when you've done all the steps listed.

Third, is it too late to return everything?

Generally.
With ho screen display, swapping parts in another computer to see if they work seems best.
Start with monitor and cables, then power supply.
If these test good in another computer, you can try swapping the motherboard.
OR try an out of case build starting with just motherboard, CPU, cooler and power, than one stick memory.
If no post likely bad motherboard.
