i ordered some ram from newegg tursday night. most stuff i order from newegg comes next day (if i order in the morning) or 2 days at most. i live about 10 miles from the nj warehouse, and about 5 miles from the ups depot. i checked the tracking on my order and find that it has gone to dhl global mail facility in rutherford. terrific. i will probably get it next week, if at all. this truly sucks ass.

i used default, which i always do. i guess its egg saver. apparently this is dhl? the only shipping i have gotten from newegg in years has been ups.

i just bought a video card with free shipping. I live like 3 states from NJ, and if it is shipped from NJ I always get stuff the next day. Even if it would take like a week, I still wouldn't complain if shipping was free. i've waited longer times for cheaper shipping methods, cough.....cough...tigerdirect.......

Last week I bought some RAM and a flash drive on separate invoices. They sent one package by USPS and the other by DHL (then ultimately tendered through USPS). I just think it depends on the item (size/weight/etc.) and what shipping option you choose.

Couldn't have been too many years since up until like 2 years ago Newegg used Fedex for all of their shipping. (at least by default, anyway) All of the 'Free Shipping' deals were Fedex exclusively as well.

they seemed to have switched between September and November in 2005. My Sept. Invoice is FedEx Saver and my Nov. Invoice is UPS 3 Days.

Damn... where has the time gone, lol....

I think as I get older time passes more quickly.... *grumbles*

DHL is fine. I ordered something on a Thursday and used the egg saver shipping. I had it Monday

I ordered some Ram last month and it was to ship free but using USP 3 day. It shipped DHL who handed it off to the Post Office.
The part that pissed me off though was the fact it was shipped in a padded envelope not a box.

Yeah my ram can in a padded envelope too via USPS. I guess DHL passes local deliver to USPS. All I know is my thing can in three business days counting the order date

this truly sucks ass.

I placed 2 orders both shipping from the hub in Tennessee, both Egg saver (1 free, 1 I had to pay $7 for).

UPS delivery would have been here the next day due to close proximity (Fenton, MO outside of St. Louis).

I ordered these 6 days ago and they still haven't arrived. To say I'm "perturbed" would be putting it lightly.

Way to cheapen up things, NewEgg. I will no longer be 'automatically shopping at NewEgg' in the future because of this. Look, I understand they're in the business of making money and it's ok if they have to charge for shipping on some things. The problem I have is a) they've switched carriers with no mention of doing so, and b) they overcharge for shipping at a ridiculous level. We have a daily UPS pickup where I work and I'm in and out of UPS World Ship all day. I know from about 1-5# from my location shipping runs around $4 and change to anywhere via ground (even the coast states, whether Pacific or Atlantic). I just paid $7 for DHL handing off to the post office and yes, I'm just slightly perturbed.

Again - I'll be sure to shop around more often in the future.

DHL has always sucked. I remember they lost my copy of Bleem! back in 1998 and I had to call and bitch up a storm.

DHL rarely makes shipping items a priority. They take their lazy time and still get it wrong half the time.

Get this guy.

Seriously.

Get this.

Warehouse: Memphis, TN
Me: Central Arkansas

UPS: One day, even if it's the slow ass cheapest shipping method

I did egg saver for a laptop cooler, it went

Newegg -> DHL Memphis -> DHL somewhere Kentucky -> DHL Memphis -> USPS -> Me

The DHL person is bad at making sure people get their delivery tags at my apartment (They bring it to the office which will send if back if not picked up in two days.). I'll have to make sure to select a carrier if I order from them, even if it costs me a few extra dollars.

Again - I'll be sure to shop around more often in the future.

Newegg ceased to be my default shopping destination when their "Standard Return Policy" became the exception rather than the rule. Sorry Newegg, without that sweet one year replacement guarantee you're just another webstore.

Last wednesday around 6:10pm EST I ordered a CPU cooler and a VGA cooler. I forgot to buy a case fan so I ordered it after I placed my CPU/VGA cooler order. My VGA/CpU ships the next day via UPS and arrives in upstate NY on Friday. My case fan ships the next day via DHL from Edison, NY only to go to a DHL facility in Rutherford, NJ. It leaves there on Saturday and arrives at my door Tuesday in a padded envelope. Go figure.

Hot damn.

Glad they added another carrier. I had just bought a Intel E8400 and a P5Q Pro last weekend and got the package yesterday. You don't want to see what the box looked like. It was horrible.

UPS can kiss my..

DHL has screwed me more times than my wife and we are still newly weds. I ordered a piece of software one time and I happen to look out my window and watch my DHL guy under hand lob my package from the street to my doorstep. They have left a 17inch monitor that was supposed to require a signature on my doorstep in the rain in the original (Hello I am an expensive lcd monitor) box.
The other issue I have is the annoying tracking for all the new hand off to the post office shipping methods. I almost never get the correct website to track the package. I did find www.packagemapping.com and it tracks them all and maps where your package is located with the standard tracking info.

I ordered some memory from them, it came from new jersey, I live in upstate NY. UPS cheap shipping = 1 day, fedex cheap shipping when they used them was 1 day, my package went from edison to east rutherford where it sat there for the weekend, then it went to Connecticut to mass to USPS, and they had it to me the next day.

I just bought an e7200 from Fry's online. It shipped from a facility that's 2 hours (133 miles) from my home. Rather than sending my package to a facility in my city (which is a top 20 metro) they routed it to some other much smaller city. That might seem fine but this random third city is nowhere near Fry's facility and it's nowhere near my city. It's not even on the way from Fry's to my city. It's 102 miles from Fry's and 128 miles from my city. The three cities form a giant triangle 100+ miles on a side. WTF?

Nonetheless, my package was scheduled for delivery only two days after I ordered. I was happy.

So it's 7:30 PM and my processor still isn't here. I call DHL. The rep assures me that the package is on a truck and that the driver is still making deliveries. She claims to see them in the system with the last one occurring only 2 minutes ago. The only upside to this call was that the CSR had the hottest, sexiest voice ever. I though I had dialed 1-900 by accident. Wonder what she looks like???

Now it's 9PM and still no package! I call back. This time the CSR tells me that it's still on a truck and that the truck hasn't returned to the depot yet. She also mentions that the depot closed at 8:30. What doesn't make sense here? She tells me that if the package isn't delivered tonight it will sit on a truck until Monday.

It's now 9:48 PM. My tracking info has a new entry. The top entry used to be "With delivery courier." Now my top entry reads "Scheduled for delivery" at 9:09PM.

BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wanted that CPU this weekend.

UPS beats my packages to shit, DHL delivers them slowly. Its fedex or USPS for me.

Last DHL package I ordered started like 360 miles from me, drove 300 the other direction, flew over me and 200 miles onto the other side of me, was given to USPS, who drove it a distance not all that much shorter than the starting point of the package... Essentially DHL took my package on a road trip vacation and gave it to USPS to be delivered when they were done.

From that same newegg shipping center Fedex gets them here in 1-2 days with the cheapest option, UPS about the same, USPS about the same. I was so happy about that shipping location which meant half my newegg orders would come next day. Until free shipping was changed to DHL which takes 5 days...

I've never had a problem with UPS or FedEx on my deliveries. I mostly prefer to ship and receive with UPS though. But I absolutely detest DHL. They don't service rural areas like where I live so they just drop off my package with USPS for delivery. So anytime I get something DHL I have to wait for it to get here via DHL and then them hand it off to USPS. A lot of times that means I could have something expensive sitting out on top of the mail box by the road when the postal driver delivers the mail.

And to top it off DHL lost a Dell m1330 that I sent in for repair not that long ago as well. Neither Dell or DHL could find where it got lost either. Couldn't even come up with the tracking number since DHL deletes their delivery history all out of the system after a couple months time. Luckily Dell decided to end up replacing it with a new refurb though.

There is a reason why so many large businesses like Dell and Newegg are switching to DHL more and more and that's because they undercut UPS and FedEx. And they do it by offering slow delivery service that doesn't service half of the US and hiring ex convicts as their delivery workers lol.

Considering that the 'Egg is a Sponsor here (and believe me I've played that card a few times on the Live chat when arguing to get my way) why don't we start up a petition or something where HardOCP members could be given the choice to maybe avoid using a certain *cough* carrier we all seem to hate? I dunno it's just a thought...I would hate to have to take all my business to various other etailers..It's so much easier shop under one virtual roof lol...

Newegg ceased to be my default shopping destination when their "Standard Return Policy" became the exception rather than the rule. Sorry Newegg, without that sweet one year replacement guarantee you're just another webstore.

Um, Newegg still has the one year replacement policy going on.

Somehow I got upgraded to overnight shipping for my 3007WFP... The DHL website said ground, Dell website said 3-5 day... but the box says Airbourne Express and it got here overnight...

If you've ever seen one of these 3007WFP boxes... that would have been like $70-100 to ship overnight... easily... 25lbss and roughly 2.5ft by 3.5ft by 1ft.... and she did it for free :D

So scratch that... -_- I don't know how fast DHL ground is..

Um, Newegg still has the one year replacement policy going on.

Their "Standard Return Policy" is still available on some (many?) items. I never said that they eliminated it entirely. My beef is that Newegg has reduced the percentage of expensive items at are covered by it.

Years ago, almost every retail motherboard Newegg sold was covered by their SRP. Fast forward to today. How many motherboards are covered? Not many. Peruse this list of 775 boards:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010200280 1070509908&name=LGA 775

Did you see one hell of a lot of "Limited 30-Day Return Policy" products? Yep. Did you see a few "Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy" products? Yep. I haven't done a scientific count or anything but by my estimation the overwhelming majority of 775 boards are not covered by the Standard Return Policy.

Do other people not care about this change? I sure do.

The majority of "add-in" cards are still covered by the SRP but for those items I could care less. They're mostly <$30. By the time return shipping is accounted for they're generally not worth returning.

When it comes to disks and processors I never take advantage of the SRP. Those manufacturers provide decent warranties and quick RMA's.

It's the lack of SRP coverage for motherboards that irks me.

I personally like DHL...
Rates are too high that I'd use personally, but their level of service AND quality of delivery trump UPS and FedEx.

UPS: Package smashers. Period. I've had more stuff smashed to pieces from them than any other carrier combined.
FedEx: Great quality, terrible service and inflexibility.
DHL: Great quality AND great service.

Of course that's just my personal experiences, and I usually get items from each of them each day.

DHL is not too bad. Prices for me is fairly cheap. Service is usually good. Only problem I had once was the rep entering in a wrong zip code. She had these monster sized, colorful fake finger nails and typed in the wrong zip code. Package went way across the country, and had to be re-routed.

If Newegg has gone DHL I'll have to not consider them to purchase from, then...

I'm 1/4 for DHL... The "1" is from long ago or something, I don't remember, and since I don't remember, it must have been an okay experience... I can't even remember what it was, but since I knew where to go to DHL to pick up an item, I know I must have previous experience with them...

But recently, this year, absolutely horrible... I bought two UPSes from Fry's (I think), and DHL absolutely PULVERIZED the foam packaging inside the boxes... The one box was some smushed it was no longer in the shape of a box... It was more of a watermelon shape now...

The last one has caused me to avoid them at all costs. All I remember is one day we had one helluva rain storm, I think it was a record-breaking storm, and was predicted... Just huge amounts of rain all day long... I just remember being blinded by the spray on my drive to work...

And what does DHL do? Two hours into the storm of the year (we had flooding in my city), while I am driving blind to work, DHL is leaving my package at my door in the pouring rain...

DHL's response to a complaint was that it was not sent with "signature required on delivery", so they can (and did) just leave it... (and yes, the package was insured...)

As long as signature isn't required, they don't care what happens to it...

FWIW - UPS, USPS & FedEx will NOT leave ANY package, even if I ask, even if I leave a signed note... they won't...

I've never had a problem with UPS busting up my packages; I must be the exception to the rule. The other thing I like about UPS is since we have a daily pickup and delivery where I work, the deliveries come right around 11:30a-noon time and the pickup is around 3:30pm so I always know when my stuff will come.

All I know is my 2 orders shipped from TN via DHL went from TN > KY > KS > MO and that's a damn long way out of the way to get to my house. (Especially since they crossed and went through MO to get to Kansas only to have to deliver to St. Louis county, MO.) I'm surprised they didn't stop off at Albuquerque while they were at it.

I will not be buying anything else from NewEgg that isn't UPS delivery. (like the 2nd Antec 300 I bought yesterday which will probably come on Monday)

I like DHL.

I always get my packages fast thru DHL in addition DHL delivers in my residence in the mornings unlike Fedex and UPS.

UPS delivers my packages really late in the afternoon around 7:30ish. Even though the UPS depot is about 10 miles from my house.

Fedex is okay. Pretty quick about 2-3 days average. Though sometimes they deliver really late like UPS.

FWIW - UPS, USPS & FedEx will NOT leave ANY package, even if I ask, even if I leave a signed note... they won't...

No, they don't.

UPS will just dump a package at the door.
USPS will just dump your package at the door.
DHL will just dump your package at the door.
FedEx is the only one that has never done that to me. I have ALWAYS had to sign FedEx packages.

Again why I like DHL, but if the delivery guy at the office has a DHL package going to my home, he'll actually bring it up to the office for me... So I don't have to screw with missed pickups... And that's all without asking.

Good thing it only costs $4 to ship, you really proved they ripped you off by charging $7. i mean, it is impossible to think that the $3 could easily have covered say, the worker that umpacked and stocked the item, and the worked that pulled from stock and packaged your order. I mean, unreasonable that newegg charged $3 for that!!!! How horrible of them, to actually charge a massive $3 for handling, when they could have easily done, say, $15 like real places that rip you off with shipping charges.

I ordered some ram on Thursday. As I watch the tracking, I see it was picked up by DHL & delivered to USPS. I guess the mailman will be dropping it off tomorrow. Interesting.
