So I was ready to buy a Synology 1512+ today go to the newegg page and see free 2-day shop runner eligibility. Long story short they bait and switched on me, I tried to contact customer service which was no help and here is the copy of what I sent in as my review of that interaction.
"I was ready to order a DS1512+ from you using the shoprunner 2 day service which was advertised on the item, I signed into my newegg account and my shoprunner account, go through to checkout, hit the button and it says there has been an error. I get back to my cart and shoprunner is no longer shown there, I go back to the item page and not there either. Figure it's a cookie problem so I load up internet explorer, once again see the shop runner on the item page, add the item to my cart, log into to shop runner, and upon logging into my newegg account the shoprunner shipping option is suddenly no where to be found.
I contact customer service she tells me this item isn't eligible. I tell her I have a screen shot of the internet explorer item page saying it is dated 20 minutes ago and i'm offered a $5 gift card for my trouble. This isn't trouble this is a bait and switch. It seems to me someone was working behind the scenes to change this eligibility while I was ordering and in the past you've been good about honoring those advertised things once they were presented to the customer.
I used to really like NewEgg and told all my friends/family to shop there for the great deals, then you raised your prices so I told my friends/family to shop there for the customer service, at this point there is no reason to pick your store over other offerings.
I was actually hoping to screen grab the conversation with the customer service representative I had to include in my posting of this transaction on [H]ardForum to let others know of my experience so I don't appreciate the window automatically converting to this survey without my consent."
It's not that an extra day's shipping is a big deal it's that i'm not going to buy from a company that would bait and switch like that.
