Any horror stories? Any good times? ;)
please share, I recently bought a refurbed item off newegg so im hoping for the best.

No, so far this has turned me off on it ;)

Newegg.com does not test any product, including refurbished items. Refurbished components are therefore only tested by the original manufacturer. Due to the varying quality of manufacturer testing, YOU ARE TAKING A RISK BUYING REFURBISHED PRODUCTS. Refurbished items are OPEN BOX products that contain components that have previously been owned by other clients and returned to Newegg.com. These products are sold considerably under cost.

But if I would buy refurb'd from anyone, it would be newegg .

The only thing i wouldnt buy refurbed / used is a hard drive.....

Think of all the fun you could have if the previous owner didn't do a thorough wipe and you were able to recover some revealing documents or something though!

i have several great experiences buying refurb from newegg including Ram, HDD and other misc stuff.

Well...I figured for $22, it's not much of a risk and it's cheaper than most stuff for sale in the FS/T Forum :)

I just bought 2 refurbed 6600GTs. Will try to remember to post what condition they're in.

The products are sold considerably under cost. Newegg.com guarantees all Refurbished products for 15 days only. CPUs, however, only have 7 days for refund

I only buy refurb direct from the company that made the product. That way I know for a fact that it was tested/repaired before I get my hands on it. Buying from a third party (no matter who the third party is) is a crap shoot.

hmm...does anybody know if the I/O sheild comes with refurbed motherboards? dunno if you really consider that an accessory or not.

no IO shield :( i bought a mobo from there and its slowly dieing one me now but it worked for a good 3 years dont think newegg is to blame. go for it!

I have bought a few reburb motherboards from them and none have ever come with I/O shields. I can usually find them for a few bucks on eBay.

Drive came today...I have to say I'm baffled. The manuf. date on it it 1-20-05 and it's warrantied to 1-20-08. It hasn't been formatted...must have been an open box maybe? Then a price error? Anyway, it works great so far...and if it doesn't, I've got 3 years to RMA it :)
