I wanted to ask if anyone else has run into this popup while browsing newegg.

I wrote an email to newegg asking if this popup is something that they produced or if I have a spyware program. So far I have received no reply from newegg on the subject.

I definitely hope that this popup was spyware related because I would hate to see newegg using popups on their site.

Please let me know if this is spyware related or if newegg is using popups.

Also please don’t bother telling me that the message is not an advertisement, or that newegg generally has a tasteful marketing strategy I do realize those things. I just think that popups of any kind are intrusive and very much in poor taste especially to a site that sells products to the IT community.

It's called a customer satisfaction survey. You should have filled it out and let them know how you feel about the popup. :p

How else are they going to find out customer satisfaction if they don't ask in some form or another?

They know because I sent them an email and explained why I refused to participate in the survey. I did mention a bit about that in my previous post but thanks for reading so carefully before you posted to rip on me.

In no way did I "rip" on you, or say anything derogatory towards or against you, if anyone is attempting to "rip" on anyone it's your post that shows the truth.

Thanks for not answering the honest question I asked as well. ;)

That's a nice drive you were looking at :). Take the survey, maybe you were the 1millionth customer and were gonna win dual x1900s or something? But you missed your chance and they went to me :p

I can see your point about being annoyed with the pop survey, Ethos. But from a marketing point, I can see new egg's point as well. What would matter to me is if you were logged in to their website or not when the survey pop showed up. If you were logged in, this would be telling the company that you have purchased from them before. If you weren't logged in or hadn't used New Egg to purchase before, I would probably get annoyed with the pop survey as well. I might fill it out, I might not. I definately wouldn't fill it out if I'd never used their site before. What would be the point? They want to know how well their customers are satisfied. I'm sure there are other forms of communication that new egg could use, as well. Sending a satisfaction email to a registered customer who recently made a purchase with them would be an idea, for one. I'm sure there are a few more out there as well.

What are you still curious aboot? It's not spyware, and is a survey from newegg...

That's confirmation that it's a survey...

Thats not an answer its an oppinion, there are no facts to back it up. If he said yeah its a popup created by newegg and the survey is legit I would take that as a fact. I would also wait untill a few other people said they have seen the same thing before I was sure.

Facts? What more do you need?

1. You were browsing Newegg's website per your original post.
2. A popup asks if you want to fill out a survey. Said popup contains Newegg's logo as well as the survey company's name (Forsee Results) per the image you posted.
3. You want to know if this "survey" is spyware or a legitimate popup from Newegg per your request.

A cursory search of "Forsee Results" brings up a website in which their sole business is doing online surveys for many major online websites.

Let's see, a Newegg Suvery popup on a Newegg website. See a connection there?

Hey, I was in a cow pasture once and stepped in something, was it cow ****? Nope, after further inspection(dont ask how I knew...or checked it!)it was horse **** ! :D

You can never be certain about anything until you check it out. Id be kind of sceptical also of a company that is argueably tops in its field, yet they feel the need to start customer surveys. Oh I believe its legit, but really am curious as to why the feel the need now?

Even when you are tops there's always room for improvement, and that drive for improvement is what keeps you on top. Knowing where you are slacking is necessary for improving, what better way then a survey?

All types of sites do it. I have seen and taken that survey my self. They should update thir privacy thing with their info though.

While I see your point, I went to the foresee results website, and I also visited their clients page. I noticed that New Egg is not listed there. I have taken surveys through this survey company for many of their other clients, all of which are listed on their client page. I wonder why New Egg isn't on their client list page. I understand that according to the site, the list is "sample of selected organizations that have been measured by ForeSee Results and included in ForeSee Results' aggregate indices." New Egg is a major company, like many of the others listed. Why isn't New Egg listed as well? I believe that the survey is from New Egg, but a little more proof on one of the companies end would be nice.

LOL

if the obvious connection and context isnt enough proof
how exactly are the members of this forum going to offer definative proof?

the threshold for proof your now asking for can only be supplied by one source
newegg

as far as being annoyed by popups
there are settings in most browsers these days that would prevent that

FF: Tools > Options > Content > Check Block Popup Windows
