What is everyone's experience with open box Mobos from Newegg? I am looking at buying a Crosshair II Formula, but all the Egg has is open box. I kinda want the accessories that come with it, what are my chances of actually getting them if i order an open box? And when they say no accessories does that mean non at all or do I at least get the sounds card addon and the I/O plate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It depends. Sometimes they even have two prices on the same open box mobos.

I got an open box micro atx system once from Newegg. Absolutely perfect. It was like it was opened and closed and sent back, never used.

It's about 50/50 that you'll get anything more than just the board. Supposedly you can tell by the price being relatively close to the retail price if it includes everything or not, e.g 40 off 400 probably means it has everything, 90 off 400 means it's probably a bare board.

I've got two boards open box from Newegg so far. One came practically brand new, looked like the bad had never even been opened, all accessories there, etc. The other came in a white box, however it was a sealed white box from the manufacturers RMA service, was even able to look the number up and see it under a newegg account along with all the other boards they sent back.

I've recently purchased 2 open box motherboards from Newegg. Both were heavily discounted, and I received only a bare board. No i/o plate, cables, ect. Both boards work fine though. Worth the heavy discount.

Open box items are usually the products that idiots got and said didn't work, but newegg looked at them after rma, and they were pristine. At least that's what I think haha. Usually there are reviews that indicate this. ex - "4th rma, lets hope this board works!" or something along those lines.

3 open box purchases on my end over last 4 years and only one has been a white box with no accessories. All three worked fine however so ymmv.

Refunds only for open box motherboards and only a 14 day period for you to set up an rma if it doesn't work.

I've went with open box on newegg twice now and both times the experience has been GREAT.

Good afternoon all!

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend, I know I did.

Here is a brief description of what Open Box really is.

What is the return policy for open box merchandise? Do Open Box items offer any additional return policy coverage?

Newegg offers a 15-day refund-only return policy for all open box merchandise. Remember if you purchase a Open Box product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE item, meaning you will only receive the item itself. Accessories may or may NOT be included with Open Box products, even if the missing accessory is required for the item to function properly.

What is an Open Box item?

Open Box items have been opened and touched and/or returned. Because they originate from different situations, they may or may not include accessories, documentation or retail packaging. Refurbishment is done by the manufacturer. Open Box products are warranted for only 15 days. We recommend that you try out your Open Box product immediately after receiving it.

Any other question's and or concerns?

Have a great day!

ive bought open box twice now and both times i got all required accesories but i didnt get sata cables or stuff like taht

lol, yah for sure it is a gamble, I have bought 3 open boxes 2 sucked, so I quit buying open box and expecting any good o/cing gear from there, remember most of the stuff was returned for a reason ( lack of o/c anyone?).
Sometimes you get a lucky one and someone returned it just cause it just wasn't what they wanted.
Here is my thought, go in expecting nothing more than it to run stock, mobo or gpu...

i had two open box motherboards from newegg
first came in a white box no accessories and didnt work
second came in the retail box with no accessories and didnt work
:(

Is there any chance of buying an open box item and having it already be registered with the manufacturer?

I'd hate to try to register it myself in case I need to RMA later only to find its already been registered.
