Newegg has some 280x

This type of price gouging is scaring me, it better not happen with the AIB 290/X's otherwise the price advantage on those cards goes down the drain. I'll send a tweet over to Roy from AMD to see what he thinks about all of this.

Yeah, they're basically pushing people to get Nvidia cards now. Not everyone mines dammit!

Asus R9-280X in stock for 359.99.

What the fuck really? This gouging shit is absurd.....

I sent Roy a tweet, if you guys have tweeter I suggest you do the same.

Pretty sure AMD can't do anything. MSRP is merely a suggestion, there's no law requiring an etailer to follow it, it's simple supply and demand. Demand goes up, prices go up.

It sucks, but I don't see the situation changing....certainly it isn't anything AMD can get involved in.

Yeah, I figured that as well, but a little public shaming might go a long way, you never know, and it doesnt costs us anything :p

I'm trying to grab a 280X myself for a mining rig :( I figure a 290 is overkill and i'm not a fan of the reference 290 regardless. An aftermarket 280X for mining is right up my alley, though.

Hopefully prices stabilize soon...

Wait, erm, are there both 2 and 3 slot versions of the Asus DC II 280X? Or is that picture just an error? Anyone know?

*placed an order regardless. If I get a 3 slot card it's going right back for RMA

Out of stock Kyle, though I have a used 7970 with that same cooler for sale on Amazon :)

You can still place an order and they will ship it (usually) as soon as it arrives in stock. I've placed orders on backlogged items before and received them within a week or so.

yea there are 2 and 3 slot versions

why would you RMA yours? i bought 2 3-slot versions last week. I wanted the 2 slotter but somethings better than nothing i guess..

It eliminates any possibility of crossfire on my potential mining rig. Two 3 slotters would be right on top of each other on the motherboard i'm using; I can't use a 3 slotter in mGPU.

If Newegg tries to pull this on the 290X's it would put them at less than $100 vs the 780ti... This really kills any type of price advantage AMD had on their card, and they wont be happy about that. Waiting for these cards to come out is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

TigerDirect is jacking up the prices too...its not just newegg...

I mean, really, what do you expect. They put up cards and they sell out in minutes/hours. They would be fools not to up the prices, especially considering what USED cards are going for on ebay now...

Was able to pick up another asus 280 today, so now I have 3 for my mining rig. Will try to make another rig with 7950s, if I can get em...

Also, I predict newegg will get more of these...soon...since they JUST jacked up the price on a 7950 card to $400...these were selling for $200 or so a few weeks ago...this is getting sporty...lol.

This is hardcore price ramping up, since just last night they were selling this for $279:

That's nothing, like I pointed out, sapphire 7950s LAST NIGHT sold for $279 at the egg, now they are out $399...that means 7950s are MORE expensive than r9 280s and some r9 290s...

Last week, although sold out, the 7950s were selling for $179 at the egg.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this in the 15 years I've been buying cards...lol.

all the more reason to buy 7870's except oh crap those have gone up too. 7850 time I guess

My plat matrix was $329 at launch, came doa. So that was back in October... They just now got these back in stock after 7 weeks? Lol

Newegg runs a script that if a piece if hardware becomes a hot seller, it automatically raises the price 10% for each block they have programmed. For instance, if they have 100 cards in stock and that stock drops less than 50 within a certain time, the price skyrockets. Then there's different tiers they have setup for price increases by certain dollar amounts.

Newegg needs to be put on blast because they are screwing up fixed pricing and the customer is the loser. If anyone thinks their discount codes are worth the bullshit look at how the pricing increases before these products qualify for sale. These guys have gotten to big for their britches and glad Kyle supports amazon rather than newegg.

I don't see amazon as some kind of consumer savior....they would first have to start getting products in stock...and Im sure they are going ot be upping prices as well...supply and demand....

Amazon is more of a consumer savior than newegg will ever be.

Fair enough to have that opinion. But my point is simple, without product, they are no good to consumers, and when they get product, they too will be following the basics of supply and demand to increase prices, just like you see the "used" prices massively inflated for these cards by their affiliate sellers...

guys, amazon has tons of 280x's at the original MSRP where you can just place the order and you will be BILLED when it ships. I had an Asus ship that's been out of stock for a week. I'm going to order one of each of the 280x's that you can do that with.

How's that for a customer savior? pre-ordering an out of stock item that scumbags like newegg are scalping people on.

do you have any idea when they might be in stock though? That is the rub...and what if they just discontinue, then reintroduce at the new price?

since they dont charge till they ship it's not really a risk. They kept giving me delivery estimates so I had plenty of warning. I don't think they give you a delivery estimate till you order though...

This is so insane.
It's like MSRP + $100 for AMD cards right now.

For once, Nvidia has better game package and cheaper price 0_o

I would say its more than $100, since newegg is selling, or trying to sell, 7950s for $449 atm. You could buy R9 290s for less than that....

This is really screwing the product price curve.
