Hmm. Anyone know how good that Asus mobo is?
//I am aware that 775 is a dead platform, but 70$ is a decent price for a upgrade.//

I had that Asus that was DOA and took almost 2 months for the RMA replacement...

Dang!
It so happens that I just had a friend of mine order that exact motherboard from N.E. this past Tuesday to replace his P5N32-E SLI.

The only deficiency I found was having 4 SATA ports, in contrast to 6 on the other board.

I had hoped that I wouldn't have to reinstall Win7 on his system with this board.
Unfortunately, that didn't turn out to be the case.

As to performance; I recall that the 650i chipset seemed to be much less troublesome than the 680i boards.
Don't know if that dynamic extends to the 750i/780i boards.

The one review I found for the board was not impressive if you wish to overclock:

"Upgrade from what?" would be the important question.
If you have DDR2 RAM, a socket 775 CPU and want SLI, this seems to be the only choice in new boards still out there.

If SLI isn't a requirement, you'd get better performance out of a P43/P45 board.

good answer gathagan. and yes, I do believe the same theory you posted holds true for 780i/750i.

The 780i boards had a reputation for causing problems, while the 750i boards seemed to provide good value.

I will say this, though, I briefly owned an evga 790i mobo, and it was a pleasure to work with, and allowed me to overclock a Q9550 farther than an ASUS P5E X38 did. For an overclocker interested in SLI, it might be worthwhile to find out what options are floating around in terms of new/used/refurb 790i boards, especially considering how cheap DDR3 has become.

I have a core 2 duo and 2x2 gigs DDR2 RAM and added a monitor so I needed another pci-e x16 bus for a second video card. Didn't want to upgrade the whole system so $140 for new mobo and vid card is a lot cheaper than a whole new system.

I know not everyone will be in the same boat but I requested a deal on this and Newegg came through! First time they've given a deal I asked for, thanks Newegg!

I was going to buy the board but their servers seem off. I then searched and found it for 115 shipped free! lol Sorry egg :) Super Wiz

I still am trying to buy an air purifier but servers are down.

I have one.
OCs pretty well, not stellar, but if it had a desent NB and SB cooler it might.
I haven't used it in a while, but it's stout.

I am pissed....bought that AX 1200 about three weeks ago for full price..........now you discount it.........dammit.

Any chance for a deal on the 80 and 160 GB Intel SSD's?
