Newegg betray's us?

seems to me a lot of people complaining in this thread are "NewEgg loyalists". well, I don't see the point. my components for the computer I'm using now came from multiple online sources. i went for the mobo + cpu + FarCry DVD deal on NewEgg awhile back, got my memory from ZipZoomFly, got my Lian-Li case from some place i can't even remember, and got my 6800 GT from GameVE (I think). i just bought a NV Silencer 5 from some random place that someone here posted up. $37.95 including tax and shipping. that's already 2 dollars less than newegg.

pretty silly to not treat newegg like any other online retailer and simply look for the best deals and only take those.

Its pretty coveniant when you need to worry about some RMAs though. You still cant beat newegg there.

or consolidate shipping :p

with my workstation, I paid shipping for the mobo, heatsinks, cpus, graphics card in one order

and the RAM & PSU direct form the manufacturers with shipping included

speaking of Newegg.... I had a small tidbit with them today.

I had to order a 6800 GT from them today so I chose the eVGA for something like $388 plus $4 for shipping.

so I then look in the latest PC Magazine and they have the same exact card advertised for $369. so I called Newegg and asked them to price match their own ad and the first rep I talked to told me they dont price match.

so here's how the conversation(s) went:

me - yeah, I wanna PM the ad that you have in the current issue of PC Mag for $369.

Newegg rep 1 - sorry sir but we dont PM.

me - uhhh? what the hell? its your company's ad in a current magazine and you dont PM? what kind of smack is that?

Newegg rep 1 - again sir, we dont PM.

-so I got pissed and hung up. I then decided to call back after I calmed down some.

me - ummm, yeah. I wanna PM an ad that you have in a current magazine.

Newegg rep 2 - okay sir, lemme ask my supervisor. (5 minutes later...) I'm sorry sir but I was told that we cant PM even our own ads. (what a bunch of horseshit... )

-so I got even more pissed. I then called back a 3rd time but this time I went off on them.

me - okay, man. here'e the deal. I wanna know why your company wont PM an ad that it has placed in the current issue of PC Mag. I've already talked to two other reps who basically told me tough sh*t but we aint price matching.

Newegg rep 3 - well sir, I'm sorry but we cant PM. what price is on the web site is what price people pay.

me - okay, tell ya what. I've probably spent over $20K with your company over the years (I do 90% of my computer business hardware ordering with them) and I have NEVER had any problems that your reps couldnt fix. and now you're telling me that you wont even PM something that your own company advertised? come on man, were only talking about a $19 difference. it isnt like I'm wanting something for nothing...

Newegg rep 3 - I'm sorry sir...

me - alright, go ahead and cancel my order and you can consider myself a lost customer which I will gaurantee. I will also place my first negative Reseller Rating as well. and also, judging from the recent outbreak of angry folks on the different internet forums, it seems like I wont be alone as an unhappy (and lost) customer.

Newegg rep 3 - okay sir. lemme put you on hold a minute.

-30 seconds later....

Newegg rep 3 - okay sir. we dont wanna lose your business so how about if we price match the ad and I give you overnite shipping just to make things right.

me - okay, that more than sounds fair.

*********

moral of today's story: customers dont have to shop at one place so that will ALWAYS leave us with the upper hand. if companys like Newegg start pulling more and more crap with people, all they have to do is threaten them to take their business elsewhere. if the company in question has an ounce of intelligence, they will always do whatever it takes to make things right. ;)

I"m starting to like zipzoomfly myself. Mostly they have free 2nd day shipping and are just as fast as (if not faster then) newegg.

However newegg still carries a lot of things that i can't really find at any of the places i trust.

The thing i don't like the most is that they are starting to edge in more shipping and some of it is rediculous. I hope they don't start acting like a B&M store.

I think they realize that people don't want split orders just to save like $5. (of course I'm not included)

speaking of which I ordered a few things, some of which were cheaper at newegg, and the rest was cheaper at zip( free shipping too) so I ordered the stuff from both, and they are both located somewhere in ca, but newegg's regular shipping beat zip's 2nd day

The $1-$5 is worth the instant RMA for a year to me. Dont have the time to sit on the phone with customer service explaining the problem.

don't know how that's relelvant to what i said, but I am a cpa if you need a hand?

Well then you have a one up...that means that you can tell us what all that crap means. Still doesn't mean that you have copies of it all and how business is going for them. So please...continue. :)

Newegg was in the right, telling you "no". You agreed to the $388 price when you purchased. Most store sites would say "no" because of how the cost of technology fluctuates.

okay, so how the hell was I supposed to get their advertised price in the magazine when they dont accept any orders besides internet sales?

that being that, I say I was more than entitled to get the sale price THAT THEY ADVERTISED in the first place.

have you read the bottom of the newegg ad in the magazine?

Horseshit, you people need to get over yourselves.

Way to take things out of context asshat.

I meant "this forum" as an indication of the type of people that hang out here. You can find them everywhere... procooling, extremeOC, /etc /etc. The people like US (obviously not you) is what I meant by that statement.
