What's New in 266.44?

This driver for the new GeForce GTX 5x0 Ti, but i had already removed.

No Increases performance vs. v265.90 drivers in the 3DMark 11.

Improves compatibility for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit with antialiasing enabled only on GTX 470/480/570/580.

Recommend for GTX 580:
In Windows 7 don't take over than 8xQAA/8xSSAA
In Windows XP you can enable to 32xAA/8xSSAA

Good luck and happy new year!

I trust all posts with crazy animated pandas in them. Trying these out now.

Using the 263.09 drivers, my gtx 580 gets 95%-98% utilization in bf:bc2 according to gpu-z. I'll wait for something more official.

I grabbed these, nice to have antialiasing working in NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010) :D. Seems to be a bit of a performance boost vs. the 262.99's I was using previously, too.

I just came back to using nVidia after over a year with ATI, so I don't really remember how installing newer drivers works for nVidia. Can I just install over the old ones, or will I have to uninstall the current ones before installing the new ones?

Both work, but I'd recommend uninstalling the old ones first.

Nvidia drivers have a 'clean install' checkbox now, try using that.

Oh, those remember COLORSPACE (RBG or VIDEO) now.. the other one,s didn't or the latest didn't even offer the option (in HDMI). That's making my life easier, i don't have to switch my projector profile anymore between Blu-Ray's and Games

i have a gtx480 and when i try to install these it saiz hardware not found for this driver.

how come?

ok, i just tried bc2 and im getting alot more gpu usage with this driver, and it runs great.

i was getting 45-50% gpu usage and now im getting 85-90% with my gtx480

i would just like to note that you if still have a stock heatsink on your gtx480 you will be hearing alot from this driver:D

i also noticed that maps load twice as fast with this driver in BC2, im amazed how awesome these drivers are.

about time they fixed BC2.

how much gpu usage are you getting right now?

hmm i just ran it right now and im getting 96-99 load while playing...i have all settings on max (vsync off), havent had any problems really...just wondering if this fixes anything i dont know about

that load is not just from spikes here and there? you getting that much constant?

if its avarage 90's then you're good, besides gpu usage, ive noticed that maps load faster with this driver than my previous ones

you know what, i just played a few minutes ago, it started spiking from 75-90...weird??? maybe ill try this out but the moded version they posted here is for windows 7 64 bit...im running windows 7 32 bit :T

well, thats normal i think.

it also depends what map you playing, maps like "heavy metal" will use more of your gpu than the others.

I reverted back to the 262.99 drivers... while these ran a scrap faster and loaded BFBC2 quicker for example, they had crashes even if I lowered my overclock substantially. Popped back to the 262.99's instead of these 266.44's and bam, stable again at the overclock I have been at since early November.

This 266.44 no good for my 2 x 450 GTS due crashes, flashed then white screen frozed, i had to shut down pc, return back to 263.14 whql doing well but not perfect.

I really hope this helps us GTX 400-500 series users with the random freezing problems

Pretty unhappy with my 580 atm

My 570 has been pretty bulletproof using their last batch of WHQL's, but these have a newer (better) audio driver and it seems like they'll do better with using a 2nd card with PhysX since it supports more cards this time. Plus, you can now force AA in NFS: Hot Pursuit.

266.35 is based off the 265 series and not the fatally flawed 266 series, no wonder they actually do something positive. Waiting for one more download to finish before installing them. Still waiting to see driver set that mention CoD:BOps by name, but I am reading good things.

If you play BFBC2, AVOID these drivers! Yikes. I did a reformat prior to installing the beta 266.35 drivers and while gameplay is smoother than with the 260.99 drivers, I get random CTD and a white screen. Only way to get out of the crash is thru task manager. Not sure what other games are affected at this point...YMMV. Obviously, this is a beta driver.

Works fine with everything I threw at it, but like a lot of the beta drivers floating around - whenever I choose to do a "clean install" it kills off everything in the nVidia control panel except Stereoscopic 3D.

Any word on this? The 470 GTX has been crashing hard lately. I've started thinking maybe my launch day card had a defect that hasn't shown up till now had it not been people with other 4XX (and surprisingly 5XX) have been having this exact issue.

266.35 is causing crashes on my SLI GTX 470 setup in WoW.

We have found the cause of the crashes with higher AA levels. The fix will be in the upcoming driver.

I've been playing lots of Divinity II: DKS and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit with this driver, both with forced 8xAA (Divinity II is using the STALKER AA compatibility flag) and I've had no problems with either game despite hours of playing them, especially the former.

So is this AA bug specific to certain setups or should it affect everyone who uses the 266.44 drivers?

I've seen reports of Lost Planet 2 and Far Cry 2 crashing with these drivers but both are working perfectly for me using 8xAA. Am I just lucky?

How did NVIDIA miss this bug during testing anyhow? I know they're beta drivers but surely there's still a certain amount of testing done on them before they are released to the public?
