New Wolfenstein

Gah, I remember how excited I was when RTCW appeared, and I was so disappointed after playing it. I guess it lost the magic it once had over me. I just miss those flashy colors.

I PWND at Destruction. Lieuts FTW!! Air strikes...schnell!!!
eh. throwing an airstrike in a 20' x 20' courtyard doesn't take any skill.

however being the medic that saved your ass did :)

+1. C'mon, anyone can sit in a corner and toss a smoke can in the general direction of the other team to have a plane fly over and kill half of them. But that's where a good medic was invaluable. Hitting downed teammates with the needle while at full run and the other team shooting the hell out of you took some fast fingers and a lot of play time. Nobody wanted to be one but everyone wanted their services.

I didn't mind being a med.
On the really hectic maps like destruction I saved so many ppl I could usually get to the top of the leaderboard (not that that means anything, but it still makes you feel good to not be the poopy medic on the bottom of the leaderboard).

Is anybody still playing on the original RTCW maps? I wanna play some beach and destruction. I don't even know where my RTCW cd is.

The new Gameinformer has a 4 page preview of the game, looks and sounds great , cant wait to play it.

I played that map 24/7, so I know all the secret air strikes spots. :D

v57!

yeah i remember shamelessly hiding up in the attic of buildings and chucking airstrike grenades down into the courtyard. good times.

I cannot wait for the new Wolfy! It's definitely a classic IP and I hope that id/Raven will bring us another great title. People bash on this new iteration of Wolf on the idtech 4 technologies, but I think it looks great and should run great out of the box. I certainly hope they show more at Quakecon next week!

Magazine story and a quote which will disappoint many.

Raven wouldn't say much about multiplayer, other than that there won't be co-op and that it'll follow in the footsteps of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

Hopefully Quakecon this weekend will reveal more.

RTCW single player was decent...i did manage to beat it but that may be because it was so easy. I absolutely hated the multiplayer though.

This will likely be a title I eBay for cheap months after release.

I thought RTCW rocked. It's in my top ten fps of all time. The SP was especially well done compared to what passes in the genre.

Disappointed about no co-op ? Meh.

They announced last year Threewave is handling the MP but now Endrant Studios is on it. Maybe the MP is a collaborative effort (Threewave = CTF) or maybe they were fired.

I got to say, I'm disappointed with the trailer/screenshots. It looks like they're holding back because the consoles can't take it.

i hope the whole game doesn't take place at night. i got my fill of dark environments with Doom3 and FEAR.

Well it's tech4 not rage, but I still expect PC to look considerably better than consoles.

Graphics look decent enough, I dont really care how good it looks. I loved playing RTCW SP and MP so much, was a great game. From the trailor, looks like some new effects have been added to give it that eerie feel. Definitely going to buy this one!

MP_Beach, MP_Assault and MP_MarketGarden (Which was the first map ever put out by SPlash Damage, way before Wolfenstein:ET came out) were my 3 fav maps. I am very excited about playing this new version. RTCW was always a great multiplayer game. ALways fun using that Panserfaust to blow people up with all teh guts splattering all over the place!!!!!

Quake 3 was always a great multiplayer game. You saw what Quake 4 did to that trend.

The graphics look claymation-y and the gameplay looks very much like a clone of Doom 3, Quake 4, FEAR and about a billion other darkly themed single player FPS games.

I'm the asshat that started the other thread. I looked at the first page, and the OP was from 2005, my bad.

Game looks cool.

I hope everyone knows (though they won't) that the engine is idTech 4, the same engine that powered Doom 3. I think it looks stellar, and the engine is old enough that there shouldn't be an issue to run huge MP maps ;)

I've been waiting a long time for this game, but the graphics don't look that great to be quite honest, but if the multipler is as good as Return to castle wolfenstein, i'm already sold.

Darn skippy! Ah needs me some nazi killing fun! And i personally always liked the occult/super science aspect of the wolfenstien franchise. RTCW is the single player FPS benchmark IMHO. HL1 comes in a close second.

I just moved from Phoenix and the only game I took with me was RTCW Tin box edition still with the sew on patch. It sat in the front passenger seat.
