Windows Home Server build. File server, backups, etc.

Trying to keep the price as low as possible.

Here's what I have:

Antec 300 case + 380 watt PSU, $79.95

Athlon II X2 250 3 GHz 65W, $62

Asus M4A785TD-M 785G uATC Mobo, $79.99

Crucial 2x1GB DDR3-1333, $57.99

This is all the hardware I need. I have a couple of big SATA drives I'll be migrating from another machine to start this one, plus I'm ordering a 1.5 TB external drive for backups.

If there's anything else I should be considering to save a few bucks here, let me know :)

That 300 with the bp430 is not a good deal. The Basiq line is antec's lowest level offering and I would suggest getting the corsair 400cx or the earthwatts 380w instead.

You could go with the slightly cheaper Athlon II X2 245 for $5 less

Motherboard is ok, might want to shoot for one with sata6.0 and usb3.0.

Yeah as Shadowssong noted: The PSU is definitely low quality. And that combo is now $100 so it's an ever lesser choice. I recommend this combo instead:
$80 - Antec 300 Case + Antec EA-380D PSU

Significantly better quality PSU/

If you don't mind the loss of dual-channel performance, you can shave off $2 by going with this RAM:
$55 - Patriot 2GB DDR3 1333 RAM
