Ok I am currently running an E8400 @4.06GHZ on air. I would like to go water cooling and here is what I am considering.

My system:

E8400
Maximus Extreme
Silverstone TJ-07

My plans:

D-TEK FuZion Universal CPU Waterblock - 1/2"
D-Tek FuZion Accelerator Nozzle Kit
Thermochill PA120.3 Radiator
Thermochill PA120.3 Fan Shroud
Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Hi-Flo Reservoir
Laing D5 Vario/Swiftech MCP655 Inline 12V DC Pump
1/2" ID (3/4" OD) Tygon R-3603 Laboratory-Grade Tubing x 10 Feet (Not sure how much to get here fully)
Long Life Red Coolant Additive - 4oz. (like the red)

My goal is to remove the top grate on the TJ-07, remove the 2 120MM fans there and drill some holes into the grate to allow the hoses to flow through and of course support the structure of the radiator and then top mount it. I want to cool the CPU and the waterblock found on the motherboard into the res. I won't be cooling the video card at this moment since there is no waterblock system for the 9800GX2 yet. Is this an overkill or too much? Can someone recommend some good 120MM fans for the rad?

The only change I'd make, would be to get Masterkleer tubing rather than Tygon. Get 15ft just incase!

Masterkleer isn't a clear as tygon is, but give them both a month... with any type of propylene glycol based coolant (aka, your red stuff) they'll be opaque and gross anyways .

I do believe the PA120.3 should have no problem with a quad and a GX2, so I think you're good there... And no, it's not overkill.

And for the fans, pick up some Yate Loon 1200rpm fans from Petras' tech shop.

your defintaely set on putting the radiator on the top of the case? i have seen lots of different setups with the TJ-07 that involve the 360 rad down the bottom of the case in the PSU area, and in the case of custom PC a few years ago, they also added a 92mm radiator at the back of the case...

as for fans, the yate loons are great, but the Noctua NF-P12-1300 fans are great, they are still 120mm, but they only spin up to a maximum of 1300RPM, the onyl downsides are the colour scheme (dark brown blades with light brown casing) and the price...

The lower part of the TJ-07 does support a 2nd power supply however I don't think its big enough to support a 3 fan rad. Maybe a 2 fan rad, would that be enough cooling?

I have a Thermochill 120.3 and a Thermochill 120.2 in the lower compartment, along with my water pump, 5 fans and the PSU. Plenty of space. The main reason to get a TJ07 is to internally fit watercooling parts.

Are you using any of the two lower hard drive racks?

Right now I have 3 drives (2 150 Raptors and a 1TB data drive) across both racks, I guess I could move all the drives to the rack closer to the front of the case and remove that 2nd one. Would that leave me enough space for a 120.3?

Didn't realize anyone used the HD rack down there.

I have all my drives mounted in in the 5.25" bays. You've got to use them for something anyway. If you do that, you will have space for all your watercooling needs, including a 120.3, and with no modding needed.

couldn't you put a 120.1 or even .2 or .3 in the front? that would be a good use of the vented drive covers...

You could put in a two big rads on on the bottom, a thin but large rad on top, one in front, a couple of tiny 92mm rads at the back, all fully "internal", but there comes a point when it becomes overkill. And you need somewhere to put your other components like your hard drives and DVD. I find that just using the lower compartment, with my fans never exceeding 1000 rpm (usually lower) is fine for me.

uh, what i said about the custom PC thing a few days ago, the problem with the 92mm rads is that they are bigger than a 92mm fan, so you couldn't put two in the back, let alone 1 and a fan, unless you either chopped out a hole in the panel above the 92mm fan sockets, or put the 2nd 92mm rad on the outside...

Saw the CustomPC mag as well. Not sure why they even bothered with 92mm rads - they don't really help much anyway. Anyway, think the main point is that the TJ07 is one of the very few cases that can handle huge amounts of internal rads.
