New uber rig

considering that person payed around 1600 dollars a processor which is almost double what 10e payed, that guy can have the top spot. lol

Damn! Why 32 gigs of ram? What on earth would saturate that?

32gig's? lol 10e has 128 gigs in his system. theres nothing that can use it all, well except a shit ton of VM's but its required since the magny-cours has quad channel DDR3 :D.

LOL

"So, how many VM progs are you running?"

10e: "All of them"

Pics of said system? I've never seen anything with that much RAM.

That's a damn fine box they have there. My stay at the top was brief, but joyful!

I had 32 GB in it before, but changed them out and went back to 1GB DIMMs for 16 now, because it was a waste having DDR3 1600 and higher speed DIMMs when the memory controllers can only do 1333mhz max, so back to 1GB Kingston ECC RAM for now.

Otherwise I can just virtualize everything and switch back to dumb terminals with VDI (virtual desktop) for everything, except for gaming.

And I thought finding a bad DIMM on a 12 slot SR2 was a nightmare!

Needle, meet haystack. It's a major investment if you think about it. Moving 8 DIMMs back and forth between each bank of RAM to find the culprit. Ugh.

I think that motherboard needs eight 16x PCI-E slots to make it complete.

lol would be cool until you try to find a case for it. then on top of that have to run 2 psu's just for the motherboard its self not to mention any cards you add to it.

Find? Get it made or make it yourself!

Not only moving the dimms. But up to 8 reboots to find the correct "broken" ram stick... assuming only one is broken, and 32 dimms are in the system.

That's like a memory machine with a few processors sprinkled in.
