Wow, very nice! I really like those cases.

I thought Raptors came in 36GB, 74GB, and 150GB. Where did you get an 80GB one?

Correct. Dell had OEM Raptors built in 80GB and 160GB capacities. I think they are physically identical, except that they use every square nanometer available on the platters, whereas the WD 74/150's stop short a little bit.

nice geek pr0n fix for the night, thanks FLECOM! Makes me feel tempted to go spend some money on folding boxen! :D

At first, quick glance I thought that was one motherboard……did a double take till it hit me.

Impressive either way, nice looking setups.

Very nice. Should put out some nice numbers. Be sure to tell us how they work out.

i knew when i saw a thread title "New Toys" by FLECOM that i wouldnt be disappointed :)

now i need to clean up ;)

so how does one procure one of these oem raptors? And do they happen to be any cheaper than their 74gig brothers?

Can those boards handle core2's?

well i bought them locally, i think they came out of some precision workstations...

i dunno if they can handle core2's... they are intel 945g express chipsets...

here is the board on MSI's website

Yeah doesn't look like they can handle the core 2's. So the dual 3ghz furnaces were probly the best way to go. Got em racked and running yet?

drool....

nice F@H Pr0n! best I have seen! wow!

Did you get the cases/server chassis for cheap? Curious about that.

Well... I have new toys coming... but they don't fold :(

Interest fading......fading....

If they go fast or make a loud noise then you're forgiven ;)

Why did you put RAPTORS in folding boxen????

*cries*

haha, i got them really cheap... unfortunately the guy only had a very limited number and i had to convince him to sell me 4 of them... but since i was buying everything in groups of 4 he gave in lol

plus they will be doing things besides folding... the first one is already finished and racked up and that is now my exchange box... i am planning on putting another drive (whatever deal is on newegg lol) to backup the raptor every night or so

ya they were cheap... only thing was i had to rewire the front panel PCB cause it was going to a connector made specifically for the mobo they had in them... and i had to get a molex > P4 power connector cause the powersupplies didnt have a P4 connector... the powersupplies are 600w tho...

there are more pics here

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1113807

i am gonna take a pic of the one i have in the rack right now

i have two server cabinets... one called "blue" and one called "red" refering to if they have any incoming connection abilities or are internal only... right now i have the first one in my "blue" rack but it will be moving over as soon as i can get some rails or something for it... since its my exchange box it definately has to go over to the red rack :)

here is "blue"

IMG_0194.jpg

the small sgi box is the new one

IMG_0195.jpg

the larger SGI boxes are file and media servers... there are 4 of the larger SGI boxes also... there is about 2Tb there i think... with another 2Tb coming soon...

IMG_0197.jpg

i know its not directly related but i also upgraded my backbone recently...

IMG_0202.jpg

60 10/100/1000 and 6 miniGBIC slots... with 2 1000SX modules in there...

routers are 3620 with 2x NM-2E2W's thats for my DSL which is a bridged line for my servers... and a 2620 with an NM-1E in it for cable..

This is all at home? :D

Damn I hope so! This thread just gets better and better! Keep posting hot pics! And why are you running DSL and cable or did i misunderstand?

ya its all at home

DSL is for the servers and a backup to the cable modem which is for my workstations and a lot faster than the DSL

mind if I ask which fortune 500 company has their IT colocated in your house? :D

(aka. what do you do that you have all these toys?)

Post more Pr0n! :D

besides folding... what are ya doin with all of your horsepower at home?

of the 4 new 2U sgi boxes, the one that is done is a 2003 DC and an exchange 2003 box...

the next one that i put together will replace my aging dual PIII 1ghz web server...

the other two are probably going to setup as game servers for lan parties

the 4 4U SGI boxes are media and file servers... so basically all file servers but one is dedicated to video, one to audio, one to files... and one to filez ;)

2 boxes just for lan parties?!! I can only dream of that kind of disposible income spent on computers. Most likely all of mine in the future will be toward marriage type items, ie home furnishings.

well i think quite a few people around here have quite a few machines for pretty much just folding... especially our disk-less farmers... so its not that crazy i guess

I agree that thermite is awesome but they're kind of used for different things so I wouldn't say its for wussies. Though to destroy a hard drive without taking out your house thermite probably would be better, just have to make sure that case is made of ceramic or something wouldn't want your whole rack going up in flames
