On a buying blitz, huh? Just bought a second SB800 myself

Very Nice Dark!!! Now lets see some bounce shots with that bad boy!! And what the hell do you do to suddenly dump all this money into your photog(and give your brother your 30D instead of me :) )???

Hahah, I clicked expecting the earlier 5D thread, was kind of puzzled at first when I saw a flash

I just bought (30mins ago) some strobist stuff (umbrella's, hotshoes, wires, stands, etc).

:) I am dumping all this money is now I have time. I just got done graduating with my MBA. And let me tell you, all this free time is great (well except for work). It is funner than working 50hours a week and going to grad school full time, I tell you. No more school for me.

I will be posting my unboxing of my new toy in about 30 days! Secret until then!

Love the toy!

Congrats on finishing school! Tis a fine graduation present! ;)

Actually my graduation present was my trip to Hawaii. My after graduation present was the 5D that I bought. And now the post graduation present is my upcoming trip to Italy. I cant wait until my wife graduates with her MBA.... :)

Presents for getting presents. Damn I need to convince the wife about that! I have my birthday up to a week now so I think I can swing that :)

GODDAMNIT I NEED YOUR JOB!!!! Actually I am in the second to last week of my MBA program too. My gift for graduation will be putting money into our wedding (though I want it to go to a 30D) and all the bills I will have to pay shortly here for the photog, cake, site, dj etc. If the freaking FCP market wasn't so damn slow right now I could probably have one already (really need to get out of sales or atleast into a better sales position).

Congrats on finishing your MBA. It will help out a lot. I was in the middle of my Finance class when I got married. Talk about stress, especially since I had my midterms the day after my wedding. I know what you are going through. The 30D is a great camera, I had one before my 5D.

Skip the 30D, and go for the 40D if you can swing the cash. Congratz on the wedding and school.

Thanks guys! Yeah I really wish I could afford the 40D or even the 5D but things are tight because of the wedding. So that means that I will be holding onto what I can and saving for a used 30D probably from the FM or POTN sell forums. Might try to pick one up from B&H but all depends on the price. Starting our lens wise I will probably pick up the new 18-55 IS kit lens and a nifty. Looking from something on the long end though, dont have much to spend but was thinking about trying to get a 70-300mm Sigma APO DG lens as they run around $200 on ebay and are supposedly pretty good.

But you can justify the 5D as being needed for the wedding. One must always think in a devious manner.

LOL.... actually already tried that. I got a negative for launch so far :(
I actually want it by the end of July so that way I can take it to Hot August Nights with us. Her dad shows his 70 Chevelle SS every year and it would be nice to have a "real" camera to take some good pics with. She said I can get it for the honeymoon but still pushing for July (honeymoon is Cabo in Oct):D
