Been folding for awhile for team 2CPU, but the forum is so dry I had to leave. To me, folding is a competition... If there is no excitement, there is no point.

ANYway.... I'm looking forward to folding right along with the team!

My farm sits as:
AMD 5600X2 (2 console clients as a service)
Core Duo 1.66ghz (Mac Mini) (SMP Client)
Athlon XP2400+ (Console as a service)
Pentium 3 Mobile 1.2ghz (Console as a service)
Playstation 3

All boxes run 24/7/365

I'm looking to pick up an E6420, but i'm not sure if its the best choice for a pure folding box.

Welcome - things can get a bit exciting here. Especially lately... ;) Really can though with the occasional contest etc. I'm a relative noob compared to some of the heavy hitters round' these parts though. Just happy to see more users coming our way and joining the [H]orde

For a pure folding box, a E6420 is a nice choice and I'm also tempted to get one for mine as well (remain to try to sell some old gear to get money for a new box).

I'm small potatoes here, but just set up my first SMP box last weekend, and have another nearly finished. I decided to use e4300s due to the price. My first wont OC due to the cheeeeeeep MB, the second should.
It's nice to see the points go up quickly.:D

Welcome to the team. We're always glad to get new members join the #1 team in the world.

That's a nice little collection of boxen you got there. Have you thought about running the windows smp client on that x2 box? Smp client will get you alot more ppd than 2 single clients, ~1000 ppd would be a good guess.

Go ahead and get an e6420. You can't beat the price and the extra l2 cache makes a pretty good improvement. I just got one running last week and really like the speed of this thing. Currently only at 3.2ghz until I find time to get it in my watercooled box and crank it up some more, but it's still giving me 1500 - 2100 ppd depending on the work unit.

Of course you could wait until July 22 when the quad core q6600 officially drops to $266.
I know I'll be grabbing one as soon as the price drops. 3000-4000 ppd folding goodness ftw!!! :D :cool:

I use ghost AI packages, it works well...

make sure you have air-proof permission or else they will b7 you from the project... and probably work too! :eek:

Oh, you didn't hear that I got some really good dirt on my boss? You know, the governor of MIssouri. He's making sure IT pushes out the client on every system in every department. :eek: That's a lot of systems.

I really wish I was telling the truth. :(
