Welcome aboard!!! :D

E.M. III is a program used to monitor the current protein you are folding on your rig. It also keeps track of the ones you have already done, along with tracking your earned points. It gives a lot of extra info such as when you started a new protein and when it will finish. You can also use it to monitor other computers you may be running.

glad to see ya. Welcome to your new obsession.

I cannot help you much with the EMIII program as I dont use it.

Ok cool. But its giving me this error. "The FAH-500-Console.exe file could not be found on any Hard Drive on this copmuter!"

But I've got Folding@Home503 in my Windows directory under Programs and under Folding@Home. Am I doin'g somethign wrong?

I've got it setup on Box 1 and I picked the F@H exe file manually but ti doesn't really appear to be doing anything.

Under Frames it reads 29 of 100 but above that it's showing 0.

All the times are zeroed out as well.

It does show that it was started yesterday and the other F@H program I'm running says that it's completed 725 frames of 2500.

Is the EM III program completely unrelated to the F@H program? Or am I just stupid cause I'm new and don't really understand this?

Thanks for the help guys.

Oh yeah, RedShred that did help I've actually bookmarked it.

Moose777 I've got it setup on Box 1 and I picked the F@H exe file manually but ti doesn't really appear to be doing anything.

What is your setup? It looks like you have multiple instances of the program running, or do you have more than one pc? :)

I'm running F@H on the same computer that EM III is on.

When I just checked EM III before coming here it increased by one frame, instead of being 29 of 100 it's now at 30. But still, everything else is zeroed out.

EMIII is a third-party utility program. It is written by The Weatherman and is useful in tracking Folding@Home progress on Windows and Linux computers. It is not a component of Folding@Home, so it runs based on how you configure it.

It sounds like EMIII is essentially configured correctly. The warning message you saw is because the filename of Folding@Home isn't exactly as EMIII is expecting, but the fact that is reporting your frame progress means that the program is working at least partly.
I'm not sure about the fact that your frame progress isn't showing or that the times are zeroes...stand by and we'll help you figure it out as best we can.

Here, try installing this into your EMIII folder. That should take care of your zero's that are showing. :D

Ok, thanks. I dled it and installed it over the old file.

Heres a screen shot of what I'm looking at, hopefully it helps you guys help me figure out what my issue is.

I am not sure if it tells you, but you have to shut down EMIII and restart it and the new info should be there!

I have a few boxen running folding on Linux, and that is the sort of problem I get when EMII doesn't have the right permissions to the 'work' subdirectory. On a Win system that shouldn't be an issue, but... it is an MS product.

Are you sharing that folder by chance? Also, EMIII usually needs to monitor a complete frame to get a good estimate on the times. Has it been running continuously for a couple frames?

I did that too. :) I clicked the red X and closed the program. Then reopened it and no change at all.

I just tried DLing the upgrade to it too but it didn't change it either.

Its on 790k of 250k frames right now.

I technically don't have it sharing a folder but I did try to move F@H to the same folder that I put EM III in, but since I'm using F@H it wouldn't move it with the exception of this file: "FaHCore_78" and "Cient.cfg" could that possibly have something to do with it?

no need to move files. I'd make sure everything is in its happy home in the FAH folder. All you have to do is point to the FAH executable. Try this: close Folding, rename the folding executable to Winfah.exe, and relaunch. In EMII delete the Box 1 and try adding it again by pointing to the newly named executable.

Well from what i can see on your screen.. it looks like things should be working.
This is how mine looks.

Hope this helps!

Still didn't work. It still shows everything zeroed out. I'm guessing thats the way my version is supposed to work.

I'll let it run throught the night, maybe it'll catch up.

i have question about em3 while were on the topic...
i have a pc that runs the program on my lan at home at monitors the folding progress of 11 clients there. but when this computer is restarted or shut down or anything, when i first open em3 up again i have to reconfigure then boxen and re-login to them. is there a way to make it so that when the computer is restarted is automatically logs back on?

I'm guessing the problem is that Windows doesn't re-establish the network connection by default. You can either change the sharing so that it connects without a password, or else map the shared folders as network drives, which you can then set up to connect at login...hmm, you still need to login to do that though. I don't know, I just use no-password shares at home and don't have this issue.

You need to download the [H]ardOCP skin and put it in the skins folder alongside the default one.
Then just point EMIII to use it.

If your FAH .exe is numbered higher than 500 then try renameing it 500.
For example I downloaded the FAH502-Console.exe but I've renamed it down to FAH500-Console.exe for use with EMIII and my firewalls.

Ps. I don't hug Moose....... :p

Luck.......... :D

EMIII seems to be working. Try this download, again it goes in the EMIII folder and you will have to restart the program after you unzip it.
You shpuld also [tick/check] the advanced methods box, it enables the SSE instruction set on your processor.

actually... I think (at least with the protein files) EMIII will update itself the next time it refreshes (finishes a frame,etc).... I do this regularly at home and at work... and I never shut EMIII down, but I'll check back in an hour or so and the protien data will be there... I've never watched to see how long it would take (if it coincides with a finished frame, etc), but I'm assuming........

Folding a protein, or even part of one (with these latest 200+ point monsters), can take a LONG time... my P4 2.4 at home has been taking upwards of 50min per frame... I miss those 50pointers.......

Keep on Folding!!

It would take 2 hours 17 minutes to finish a frame on a 277 point Gromacs core protein on my work computer, a PIII 700. Now that takes a while to get done. The 217 point Tinker it just finished was a lot nicer though. Only took about 17 minutes per frame on average. Only took about 5 or so days to finish it also I believe. I'd like to see what would happen if my main rig (the one in the sig) got hold of one of them. :D

make that 300+ monsters!!!!

p1306_1ryp_sv2_a4_fr_2fs.............320.00pts.....GROMACS
p1308_1ryp_sv2_a4_k150_2fs........320.00pts.....GROMACS
p1309_1RYP_sv2_L4_fr_2fs...........316.00pts.....GROMACS
p1310_1RYP_sv2_L4_k150_2fs......316.00pts.....GROMACS

Keep on Folding!!
(no matter how slowly!!!)

The p13** fold very nice on my Opteron system.
Try 4 points per hour per Ghz.
So at 2.4 Ghz thats close to 10 points per hour.

Now something like p584 fold slow.
Try at only 1.8 points per hour per Ghz.

It helps to know the speed of some protiens even thou you cannot do anything much about which ones you get.

Luck.......... :D

Thanks for the help guys. I got home from work today and checked EMIII and it's working beautifully now. All the fields are running now.

I do have a question what is the team number for the [H]orde? I know it's 33 but I just went to check my progress over at http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ and did it by my name and it didn't show anything so I tried Team 33 and it gave me an error saying that it needs a 4 digit team number. So, what are the two numbers I'm missing?

I know I saw it in one of the threads on here but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was.

I'm glad you got the program working!
You won't show up in the stats untill you have finnished your first WU, then it takes 2-3 hours to post. Then you will be listed in all your glory!!!!!

i have no idea...check your stats at http://folding.stanford.edu/stats.html ...maybe you could try 0033 as the four digit number?

Yeah, I'm not listed on the UoS site yet either. I should be on there by thursday evening though.
