http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/08/02/thg_tuning_test/index.html The difference between the two is very substantial, even the 6600 out performs that FX-62 in some tests. Now I am an AMD user but I will still marvel at the fact that Intel has put out a very nice set of processors. This can only mean good things for consumers down the road as AMD will answer and the battle between the two will continue on.

i can't wait to get the money together to build my conroe system. Darn new car taking all my money right now :(

been using an AMD setup for awhile now (Opteron 170@ 2.6ghz currently) ..and I must say ...

Welcome Back Intel! .. :p

what is sad to me is that we are on the verge of 4 cores per processor and there is very little software out there that takes advantage of it.

almost tempted to take up 3d modelling just for that. I mean, playing with Maya and 3DSM would be awfully fun on a quad core system =D

Dude.. those tests are crap. Who the hell runs their games at 10x7? WTF is that all aobut... that's not real world. THG is lying to us all.... damn the man... rage... rage...

LOL.. sorry, couldn't resist. :D

you are very clueless then, there is ALOT of software out there that uses multicores and more then 2/4/or even 8 - but just because you may not use them, or know of them, does not mean they wont be taken advanatge of.

Not everyone has a 20" LCD's and runs at 1600+ resolutions, a large market of people, like more then higher, run 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 res's.

[H] Has already shown how high res affect it, and again i say, alot of people use their comps for MORE then gaming.

Absolutely. That's the main argument for even owning a top-notch PC. Consoles are much less expensive, but offer little beside games.
