If you're building right now don't forget to take advantage of bing cashback up to 20%. I got i7 + mobo combo from Superbiiz for ~340 bucks (after cashback and MIR). Downside? - you'll have to wait for two months to get your money... just throwing it out there.

thats what I was thinking, except I have not found a date for when the new ones come out, so it may not be worth waiting...i am currently running a ati x800 256mb AGP card and uh yeah

the new ATI cards come out on september 10, so definitely wait if you can, keep in mind the 5870 is going to cost $299 at launch.

yea but I think ati is releasing 4 cards in different budget ranges. maybe one at @200. The lowest is supposedly $50

the $200 is most likely the 5850, but i also saw that they are going to have a $50 card.

get a XFX 4890 XT for 199.99 its a lil bit faster card

stick with corsair HX series either the 620 hx 750hx or the 850hx whatever you can afford
dell business has these on sale

As for the Harddrive get a Black instead of the green they have 640gbs and sometimes 750gb for $65 bucks

also use paypal you can get $20 cash back for orders over $200
and you get it really quick or at least i did

get this dvd burner instead its one of the best you can buy for about the same price as the sony
SAMSUNG
Type DVD Burner
Model SH-S223Q

newegg might not have any in stock or there might be a newer model released recently

there might not be any diffrence. the Q came with a nero 9 but it can only be used with that drive installed on your computer

Get yourself a good cooler if you want to push that processor a bit.

What case will you be using? Oh and please answer the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST" so that we can help you better.

You can shave off $40 by going with this RAM:
$120 - G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM

You can shave off another $40 by going with this equally quality modular PSU:
$100 - Antec Truepower New TP750 750W PSU

I agree with Flexion, get a heatsink to OC that nice CPU of yours.

This is just my opinion, but, I would go with AMD, unless you're doing like movie editing or other CPU intensive stuff. If its just gaming, you can save a ton on your processor, even more on your motherboard, and still have a good system.

Which case are you using to hold the Rampage II Gene? You do realize that it's a micro ATX board... and that many people have been complaining about the northbridge getting hot during operation... right? (If you insist on getting that particular board, get an aftermarket heatsink for the northbridge... search for the Thermalright HR-05 IFX or the HR-05 IFX/SLI. You may also want to look at the MSI X58M, which is an equally capable micro ATX motherboard that's often available for less.)

If the primary purpose of this build is gaming, you could save yourself quite a bit of money by going with the AMD Phenom II instead of the Intel Core i7.

The Samsung -Q and -L optical drives use LightScribe, which IMO is unnecessary for most people who just want an optical drive to simply "work." However, they are good optical drives regardless of that feature... and they're pretty quiet compared to other brands (most notably Lite-On).

If you can, wait for the new video cards to arrive.

Thanks for everyones help, It is much appreciated.
