New Social Network Only for Mac Users

A site like this is the largest hardware site on the net, and whenever something involving Apple is posted the OP is burned at the stake for it (unless of course its [H] staff, who poke fun just to make it clear they'd never support such an evil empire).

Ok so... shall we burn him at the stake?

I mean for Christ sake, you can't even stand too see the word "Mac" without going off on how superior your kind of machine is.

When Apple's entire advertising campaign relies on tricking consumers into an unjust belief that a Mac is superior to a PC, what kind of behavior do you expect to see? They were the ones who started the fire

That smell my friend is the 3rd world nations sweat shop laborers odors mixed in with lots of plastics.

I would not be sniffing anything.

I guess all those motherboards and video cards we buy are made in the U.S.A. by factory workers earning a middle-class living?

Those workers never even touch the hardware without gloves, masks and hairnets. The sandwiches and burgers at your local deli probably have ten-times more filth.

Macs are sweet machines. I had a Quad-Core G5 a few months back... HD video in Quicktime was like buttah. It was unreal. And that's a 3 year-old machine...

High-end macs are useless for regular home purposes...but if I was a professional for 3d rendering, video or audio... I would want nothing but a Mac. Gorgeous, superior OS...seamless hardware - software integration. Outstanding.

Everyone needs to quit complaining and windows users need to stop their urge to bash mac users. Fucking grow up and stop with the insults.

Mac users already have a Social Network. It's called the gay bar.

Everyone needs to quit complaining and windows users need to stop their urge to bash mac users. Fucking grow up and stop with the insults.

oh take that stick out of your ass and take a joke. We're not bashing them so much as just having fun at their expense :p

...B) OH OF COURSE, IT ALL MAKES SENSE! The advertising section of Apple puts off an elitist, zealot commercial and it means that ALL Mac users are exactly the same! Theres no way any of them could simply perfer the OS, they're all just pricks! Fuck trying to increase their 5% market share, how DARE they try and sway people away from the 95% PC market! Those bastards
http://www.foxbusiness.com/article/...n-large-according-mindset-media_439362_1.html
There is definitely a "Mac mentality."

More importantly... If Apple is trying to expand beyond its 5% market share with such commercials, then guess what type of buyer they're going to attract... Scion gears its car ads towards the trendy, customize-me-till-there's-nothing-left-to-recognize crowd, and I don't see many grandmas or grandpas running out to buy the new tC- but can you guess who does end up behind the wheel of every Scion I pass on the street?

I have nothing against Apple products- I own two iPods (both gifts), I'm building my nth Hackintosh, and I even put up with iTunes as long as I had to. I even like the Air, apart from its dependence on a network DVD drive. But I won't be buying anything from them anytime soon, because I despise their commercials. I don't want their advertising department to mistake my support for a nice (emphasis: not superior) product, for an effective ad campaign.

MAC users create this themselves. This is the backlash that has been building up for a long time. I tried to give mac's a chance. I even started shopping for one just to see. I figured my wife would also enjoy a change. So off to the store I go, ready to browse and very possibly buy if I liked what I saw. I chose to avoid the apple stores because I figured it would too APPLE!!!!! for me. Instead I headed to the local fry's which has a pretty decent selection of apple products and several apple product specialists.
I informed the first specialist of my intentions, and what I was looking for. He lost the sale because everytime I went to touch a mouse he would go on for about 5 minuts how this and that was so much better than a pc. I explained I was still going to use my pc as well as the mac. This went on 4 times in a half hour period. I finally told him he lost the sale and walked.
I then decided to head to the apple store, and not so suprising the anti-pc bias was even worse. I didn't even comment on pc's I just wanted to play with osx to get a feel. Here I was with 3 grand ready to unload and apple didn't want it because they are represented by elitist a-holes.
Not to mention the apple commericals which lie. You can't defend what they say. It goes beyond stretching the truth. This is what made me keep the 3 grand, because with the local help, and the national commercials I figured it ran community wide and didn't want to be a part of that.
Hopefully the majority of MAC users will join up there and stay there.

Weird. The salespeople at the Apple store by me are always very nice and helpful with the Windows users who shop there (lots of the conversations there are "will this open Office files?"). They even have VMWare Fusion set up on a machine to show that you can run both OS X and Windows on the same desktop if you would like. Sounds like you got some overzealous assholes trying to sell you a computer there.

And you can spend way less than 3 grand to get a nice machine, unless you absolutely have to have eight Xeon cores. :)

Hey bigbadgreen, heres a computer lesson: A MAC and a Mac are two very, very different things. ;)

Chaos, the reason Mac users are made fun of is because their superior attitude they about their computer. For Christ sakes look at the PC vs Mac commercials! You can not tell me that those commercials do nothing but flow arrogance. Granted, I know a few Mac users who are nice people. But, you talk to them about computers and they instantly say PC's suck for x reason. When I refute that reason, they get offended...QUOTE]

And if I wanted to use the Mac OS I wouldn't buy an OEM PC with no knowledge other than "it works, it's a mac", I would build my PC with the latest and greatest and install the Mac OS on another partition. The one thing most Mac users don't understand is the OS is the only thing that differentiates it as a Mac, PC, or Linux machine.

And I know about the Mac Monopoly Chip, but since it offers no features and is easily bypassed, I don't count that as an essential piece of hardware that makes it a Mac.

:( looks like I'm late to the party.

While I know and understand that not everyone that uses an apple product is some elitist ass hats, I know enough that are to never purchase a single apple product myself. When I get a portable media player I'll go with a zune. Like with most things its the few that make it bad for everyone else. Apple for years have tried to make themselves out to the be best, they have managed to make some believe them and like people have stated that is why people like to bash Mac.

I personally know people so brainwashed about Apple that they actually think that it is the hardware that causes the problem with security. They think that running Windows under bootcamp is far more secure than running it on a "normal pc" because it is running on a Mac.

Like most. I hear so much Windows/Linux bashing from Apple users that I feel forced to fight back. Although I also know it is a never ending battle. Apple fanatics are driven to prove Apple can do no wrong, and the rest of us are driven to prove that Apple is just like any other OS.

this is like escape from new york but instead of criminals isolated on a island no one wants to go to its latte-sipping blog-writing emo snobs.

self isolation for the win!

in all seriousness, I dont get the whole PC versus Mac thing, but Apple guys you have to admit all of the PC bashing commercials Apple has done is equivalent to firing the first shot in a war.

And to be on topic, social networking sites are garbage. I can be reached by IM, email, and cell phone very easily, I don't need to be on some social networking site, let alone one that is made for fanboys of a specific platform. Why doesn't someone start up a social networking site for Windows/Linux/XBox 360/PS3/Wii fanboys while they're at it?

They're bigger garbage when they're so exclusive. If I wanted to socially network, why only with other mac users? I would rather be able to socially network with my PC buddies as well (real world or otherwise).

Then again, this might be exactly why it'll appeal to some people. With that in mind, I don't oppose it; I just won't join.

You guys are just jealous that you don't have a rock solid, unhackable OS that can play all the latest games.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LOL your kidding right? im sorry but i recall it being the macbook air was taken over in 2mins from an exploit in Safari (also made by apple), while Vista and Ubuntu lasted 2 more days.

I grew up on Macs. Our first computer in the house was an apple LC575 (pirated! No really, my brother stole it from a school or something, I was like 8 and was like hell yeah we have a computer!)

My mom and sister are still stuck on macs, but I think my sister might be getting ready to switch (one, so she can work with me, but also because her laptop cord pooped out on her).

I personally cannot stand OSX. I hate hate hate it. I loved OS 9, and if I had a mac would probably use that instead (I'm not joking one bit either).

I've been using windows for about 3 or 4 years now, and although I don't exactly like it either, I -can- play games on it. Companies are (oh so very slowly) starting to release mac versions of PC games at the same time (Spore will), but for the most part it's just slacking in that area.

My mom has a 4,000 dollar mac (and a stupid Toyota Prius, she's just ridiculous. I told her people see her driving down the street and think she's some pompous jerk, she laughed and didn't believe me). It runs like crap compared to my -EXTREMELY- out of date junky pc.

Of course I am kididng. Not the AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA at the end of the post.

TBH I could careless what os people use. If they like the mac os then great for them. I myself prefer Linux but don't expect everybody in the world to use it just because I find it nifty.:)

Opposite for me. Hate hate hated OS 7, 8, 9, all that stuff. I wasn't "ok" with a Mac OS until 10.2 came out, and there the only reason I got it was so I could run Final Cut Pro. The improvements they've made since then (especially the move to 10.4) have really blown me away.

What $4000 Mac does your mom have? I had a $2000 G4 desktop I bought in 2002 that five years later ran as well as the day I bought it with zero maintenance, No defrags, malware scanning, registry cleaning, and no reformats/OS reinstalls, even with the major OS updates. I gave it away last November so I could finally replace it with a new Core 2 Duo iMac (no need for a Mac Pro, the Core 2 Duo is plenty for Final Cut Studio 2), but that old G4 lasted me far longer than any Windows PC I ever owned. The only negative thing about that G4 is that it used frigging Motorola CPUs, but even there it stayed useful for way longer than I expected due to the OS.

I'm with you on the Prius though, dumb. :)

My point exactly. Retarded x1000.

Hey bigbadgreen, heres a computer lesson: A MAC and a Mac are two very, very different things.
thanks for the lesson, I guess I missed one of the macs in caps. I totally forgot about the other meaning and was trying to empahasize the fanboyness of it by using all caps as a scream.

I have not posted in a long ass time but something needed to be said. Fanboys...SHUT THE FUCK UP...please. I've used PCs my whole life AND I own a mac. Who gives a fuck. What is the fucking point of writing a one sentence point saying how much you fucking hate something to to cry about how it's not gonna work, or it's stupid. Hey no one cares about your opinion! No one cares about mine either but hey your reading it.

Anyways, it's an interesting concept for people who enjoy their mac to meet other users to perhaps I dunno, ask for help with the programs mac uses ect. Hey it might even be useful for someone.

So for everyone who posted some shit stupid post. Please, go cry in a corner while you use your own tears as lubricant. Please, just stop wasted my precious pixels you insolent people. For those who posted real posts, the few that they were. Thank you for seeing past several layers of useless garbage posts further boosting their post count.

Sorry if it doubled posted...said database error.

Good for them.

Now they can circle jerk themselves into a stagnant pool of overpriced and underwashed glory.

(I live 1 block from the Apple Store in NY. Want smell-o-vision? Hang out there for a while.)

You guys know what type of people use Macs right? My sister, my wife and their friends? People who don't give a fuck about anything related to computers. They just want something easy to navigate and look cute when they are checking MySpace at Jumba Juice. Holy shit all these negative comments are not necessary.

Yup, people like that and these guys: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/action/

They just took down the David Fincher "Zodiac" interview, too bad. The Coen Bros clip is still pretty awesome. Either way, the amount of negative comments here for OS X always blows me away. As a platform for personal and professional use, it is pretty great.

Well I might as well put in some input here. I have to say that mac users are douchebags.

I started shopping around for a laptop (I wanted to buy in town retail because I wanted it in my hands right then) as I was going around to the different stores (bestbuy, cc, local pc shops I passed by a mac store and figured what the hell might as well give it a shot since I don't hardly game anymore and am looking for something to use for college.

At first I walk in there and see some fairly nice dressed guys helping customers, I started looking at the wall of laptops. First thing I didn't like was nothing had a tag, no price or specs. I guess they just expect you to know these things.

I'm 17 so I understand the whole mentality of them thinking "he's a kid obliviously he doesn't know what he's looking at or doesn't have any money" but seriously. I was there 15 mins and not ONE time someone even acknowledged that I was there even by a hello or can I help you with anything.

I've never seen an Apple store without price tags on anything. Hell, /[every]/ piece of equipment I see there has a frigging price tag with specs. Second, I can't get salespeople off my back when I'm there just to get on a webpage or something. I don't even buy hardware at the official stores, I do it at a local place which mostly works with film and music businesses that cuts amazing deals (and 3% sales tax instead of 8.5%, woohoo!). If they ignored you because you're a kid, though, that's not cool It certainly doesn't mean that Mac users are douchebags. I don't think all computer users are smelly and illiterate based on when I shop at Fry's, nor do I think that everyone who drives a car is totally dishonest and out for my cash based on my experience at the car dealership. :)

They don't want the outside world seeing topics such as, shit, how do I get programs to run?
:D:D:D

When I get a portable media player I'll go with a zune
Ditto. Having used iPods (they were obviously the first that did it well), I called the Zune a POS for months before getting on one of these Refurb deals... and I must say from opening the box to loading my music, I found it a ton easier (and all in once peice of software) than the iPod.

Apple for years have tried to make themselves out to the be best, they have managed to make some believe them and like people have stated that is why people like to bash Mac.
They are seeking to become something else.
IMO they focus way the hell too much energy on why they are better than Windows.

If they would actually direct that to making their platform more stable (2 minute hack speaks for itself), they would have an OS I'd be much more willing to use (for home). They'd still need to do a TON of work on their server/network products to beat Windows though.

It reminded me of China's missle tests awhile back. All reminicent of a child stamping their feet, "look at me! look at me!"

LOL your kidding right? im sorry but i recall it being the macbook air was taken over in 2mins from an exploit in Safari (also made by apple), while Vista and Ubuntu lasted 2 more days.
Not only 2 days, they lasted until the THIRD PARTY attacks (Meaning it wasn't even a flaw with the OS... A third party (Adobe in this case) brought it in).

And I just realized, why do I want to spend $3,000-4,000 on a computer? I'm not looking at spending that much money unless we are talking about stinking SERVERS!

If you find yourself missing smug asshats on your regular forums, now you know where they went.

You're not getting anywhere near that price unless you are loading up an 8-core Xeon Mac Pro workstation. Aside from the mini (which IMO is a waste since you are basically paying for cramming small components into a tiny enclosure), prices are very competitive if you are going apples-to-apples (no pun intended) with other system builders. Obviously if you are building the machine yourself, as we all do over here, you will save a lot of money compared to any of them.

Anyways, it's an interesting concept for people who enjoy their mac to meet other users to perhaps I dunno, ask for help with the programs mac uses ect. Hey it might even be useful for someone.
.

it isnt intersting at all, hey head of to www.mac-forums.com, if anything this site is alienating people away from Apple, "hey i want to buy a mac", OH wait i cant get into the site until i own a mac"..... that is an elist snob attitude...

dam no edit

the only thing sites like this do is seperate individual's into a group / clan / cult giving a superiority complex because they are part of this "elitest group only X people are allowed into and if you cant get in, you are inferior', ithought we were trying to get away from stereotypical groups or "racism' in a sense, that is what this site is promoting.... a form of racism to me, in a sense.
