Now that you have your MacBook Air, you probably need an exclusive community to further separate you from the vanilla PC users. Enter Net4mac. This social network is intended for Mac users only and requires a Mac application to be able to use the network.

The application that drives net4mac lets you access the community from your Dock and see the number of messages you have there, send invitations using your Address Book, add pictures from your iSight camera and more.

I wonder if anyone is ever going to come out with some way to use this on Windows. I think that would be pretty hilarious. Mac users really need to get over themselves. I don't see how buying a product with low market share that costs a bundle is being a elitist by any means (as far as hardware/oses are concerned).
 
Is this possibly the first step in getting the smarmy Mac users onto their own sub-internet so they'll leave everybody else alone?
 
It has to be mca only, otherwise PC users would go in there and discover the truth, the entire thing is there to solve mac problems. They don't want the outside world seeing topics such as, shit, how do I get programs to run?
 
Is this a conspiracy to have all of those assholes running XP or Vista on their Macs to be forced to boot into OSX?

When I first saw it, I didn't see the point. Funny you compair it to the MacBook Air because both seem equally worthless in my eyes at first glance. I was going to compair this to some of the clubs on [H] (nVidia club, Socket 939 Club, I'm-So-Leet-Because-I-Hate-An-OS-I've-Never-Used Club, etc etc) but this isn't really a club. I don't see them trying to make a boys clubhouse no grrls allowed, but rather a MySpace that runs only OSX...why? Well, while I write this and look over any post on the [H] involving Apple I slowly understand why. A site like this is the largest hardware site on the net, and whenever something involving Apple is posted the OP is burned at the stake for it (unless of course its [H] staff, who poke fun just to make it clear they'd never support such an evil empire). I've even seen it happen a few times in the Apple sub-forum (which, as I've said many times, I'm surprised GenMay hasn't raided, 4chan style).

So honestly, people similar to you may be the reason for this. Mac users are shunned, poked fun of, abused, and pretty much hated by places like this. Where else can they go for help but a site/program in which they will only interact with other Mac users?

If you wanna tear into me for the OS I use, go for it. PM me and tell me how dumb I am because I use what I use, and what an elitist prick I am despite never meeting me. See how far it will get you, and then wonder why sites like the one posted are popping up. ;)

There are plenty of mac forums out there that do the same exact same thing as this one, except this one is trying to segregate the users from joining the site. How does that make them any better than we are?

Shunned? HA! Check out all those fucking stupid mac commercials and all the propaganda they spread around. They are the reason why we get defensive or talk shit in the first place. If their attitudes weren't elitist or zealot like we wouldn't have such an issue.

A) No one said it made them "better then you", you apparently have a complex that needs looking at.

B) OH OF COURSE, IT ALL MAKES SENSE! The advertising section of Apple puts off an elitist, zealot commercial and it means that ALL Mac users are exactly the same! Theres no way any of them could simply perfer the OS, they're all just pricks! Fuck trying to increase their 5% market share, how DARE they try and sway people away from the 95% PC market! Those bastards.

Its all so logical. How foolish of me to think otherwise.
 
I'm kinda worried. That much douchebaggery concentrated in a small place might cause the universe to implode.

Oh, come off it already. Of course all Mac users aren't as smug as they're portrayed to be - after all, I had a roommate with a Mac, and she's one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met. However, the stereotype is definitely there for a reason, and the existence of this new social network merely reinforces it. I mean, how can you NOT expect people to get a kick out of a website that promises to be an exclusive club for Mac users to network? ;)

Chaos, the reason Mac users are made fun of is because their superior attitude they about their computer. For Christ sakes look at the PC vs Mac commercials! You can not tell me that those commercials do nothing but flow arrogance. Granted, I know a few Mac users who are nice people. But, you talk to them about computers and they instantly say PC's suck for x reason. When I refute that reason, they get offended, like I just denounced the holy bible as being fiction (using it as an example people, lets not mix two religions in this thread).

And you know, its not about the Mac. I know many people will admit that the Mac's are darn good pc's. Its mac owners we can't stand. For us to take any Mac user seriously they would:

A) Admit that their Mac is not perfect
B) Stop blaming PC's for bloatware, spyware, and viruses. Its not PC/M$'s fault they are more popular than Mac's
C) Petition Apple's PR to stop those idiotic PC vs Mac commercials.

I NEED a way to get this to run under windows. I don't care what it involves, as long as it doesn't involve me installing OSX.

(for the record, I have 2 macs. Maybe I should install this on my G3?)

If I could run all my games and apps. in OSX...i'd switch back in a heartbeat.

I signed up yesterday. It is quite dead. The entire population seems to be:

Me
Old people who 'never used Windows'
People with a lot of expensive camera stuff
People who don't speak english
The person who added me to their friend's list from here (hello!)

That's it. In the chat room today (they have *one*) there was a record of I think 17 people when I was on. Currently there's just one guy from a spanish-speaking country. Their 'forums' are pretty desolate also, the Macbook Pro forum has a whole three posts currently.

Guess time will tell. I think most Mac users have alternate ways to socialize anyway.
