I am building a new rig. I think I have everything. Any comments or suggestions before I place my order?

Case: ASPIRE (Turbo Case)X-Superalien Blue ~$141

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ~$218

Mobo: ASUS "K8V SE Deluxe" ~$115

RAM: Corsair XMS Extreme Memory (512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 ~ $231

Video card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB (already own it)

Sound card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy LS ~$53

Floppy: SONY Beige 1.44MB 3.5Inch ~$10.99

HDD: Seagate Barracuda - Hard Drive - 200GB ~$104 (with rebates)

CD-RW/DVD: Lite-On White 52X32X52X16 Combo Drive ~$44

OS: Microsoft XP Pro OEM ~$141

Total: $1015

Unless you're planning on liquid cooling and overclocking that sucker, I'd save a few bones on the RAM and get Kingston ValueRam.

First off you have your processor priced wrong, it's $218 at Newegg.

If you end up getting the cheaper RAM I would recommend the Corsair Value stuff, cas 2.5

I would beware of the PSU in that case, since they don't tell you what it is. It looks to have good cooling, but that PSU... ugh. Someone even mentioned it in the comments. If you want to save money on the RAM you could get a different case and buy a PSU separately, an Antec 430 or something.

For $30 more you could get a double layer DVD-RW drive, won't be as fast reading, but maybe better in the long term.

Well I would like the better RAM because I may end up buying something like this. However I won't know until I actually get my system setup.

Never skimp on RAM. I made that mistake a couple of times and got hosed by it.

That's true, the speed differences are however marginal @ 5%~ Are you at all going to overclock?

If you're going to get liquid cooling, then you'll probably want at least PC3500 or better yet PC4000 RAM so you know you're memory isn't holding you back in overclocking. :D

Well the Corsair XMS is supposed to be good for overclocking and PC3200 is plenty fast. I don't even know any mother boards that support PC4000 anyway.

It's not that it isn't supported, it's that nothing currently runs faster than 200MHz FSB stock. The PC3500 and up are all for enthusiasts doing overclocking, they'll still work. PC3200 is the fastest standard RAM is all.

What are you talking about? He has the correct price...

If you overclock very much, you better get more than 3200 ram. You'll get more bandwidth running something like 3700 or 4000. Just make sure the mobo supports it.

He didn't when I posted though, he had the Newcastle 3000+ price listed. He's changed it since then.

Sorry 'bout the inconvience. I was in a rush to get that posted and didn't double check it.

--Oh and do you think with the ViewSonic VP201 my system would be complete? I need a new monitor and this one looks to be perfect.
