New PC, critique please

Does anyone know what kind of voltage these procs can handle?

I had to bump up my voltage a little, I am at 3.5ghz stable in prime95, the nvidia system torture, gaming, 3dmark, and everything else I could throw at it, I hit about 48c under load, and, according to asus AI booster, it falls back to 34c at idle within seconds.

I'd like to tweak it a litte bit more, so I get at least a 1ghz OC.

With the graphics maxed, in c&c3, it slows down a little bit.

I really am not sure on the voltage, but if I had to guess, I would say no more then 1.45 or at most 1.5 Max.

Your temps look great for a smithfield. I would say with those temps you should be able to hit 3.8GHz np. You must have some good cooling going on there. Just remember as you increase the voltage the temps are going to go up as well.

Try OCCT or Orthos too for stability. Surely you can you can get to 3.8-4.0ghz

I feel the same way, though I already had my PD 915. I am waiting to see how low the quad cores come down(maybe he is too?). I think the cpu is bottlenecking my 7900GS, not sure what the cutoff is for cpu versus video cards...
As far as buying the 805, I definately wouldnt have unless he plans to use it for a 2nd comp(server).

I bought a HUGE zalman cooler, and I have a temp controlled rear mount 92mm fan, and 2 80mm front fans, its quiet until I game heavily.

At the time, its what I had for money for my upgrade.

I was reading that this chip can OC pretty decent, so, I might try that. I wanted to keep everything under $1500, screen and video where important to me the most.

no offense kid, but I think that's kind of pointless. You had 1500 dollars to spend on a computer and you spent it on a PD805 system and spent most of your budget on the LCD? Here's what I would have done with 1500 dollars....

I wanted components that will last for years, and I wanted a HUGE monitor, there are so many different combinations of what I could have or what I "should" have bought.

I will play with this 805 since its been awhile since I had an intel box, once the quad core prices come down, I will jump on that bandwagon.

LOL, just have fun with what you have and enjoy it. Don't let these yo, yo's drag you down. You have a very nice set up. Your system is c2d and c2 quad ready and a ton of different CPU's you could throw in there at any time.
