1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
rendering (mostly 3ds max and real flow 5), adobe (photoshop, after effect, etc). Gaming. Video encoding. Mostly everything so I need a good cpu
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Don’t think I will need to spend more than $900
3) Where do you live?
East coast, USA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU: Intel Core i7-950 $230 (microcenter) + $200 ASUS Sabertooth X58 =$430 or
Phenom II X6 1090T $260  +ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 = $490

CASE: COOLER MASTER HAF 922 = $90 or
LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62 = $100
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
POWER SUPPLY: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W = bought for $80 AR (don’t think ill get a better deal)
RAM: Patriot Viper II Sector 7 Edition 6GB DDR3 1600 = bought for $110 AR (don’t think ill get a better deal also)
HDD: Agility 2 60gb + WD caviar black 1tb + msi 465 that i got for $150 (wont need a better one for another year) (from old pc)
6) Will you be overclocking?
As much as possible, probably to 3.8~4.0 on either one , so need to buy a good cooler ~$50
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
not in budget, will buy during thanksgiving sales.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
if anything I will save like $50 total if I wait till thanksgiving, so probably now
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Overclocking, stable everything, don’t need SLI or RAID… but want stable for overclocking.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
64bit windows 7

My main concern is, do i go with the better 4 core that will do best overall, or do i go with amd whitch will be worse overall but better at rendering. (i will buy a pc probably in 2 years since i will need a 12 core cpu lol with 3.0 pci express so i dont care too much about lifetime of pc or anything)

Considering that you're overclocking heavily, go for the Core i7 setup as an OC'd Core i7 950/930/920 will outperform an OC'd 1090T clock for clock in virtually every application, including rendering.

HSF wise, go with this HSF:
$40 - Thermalright Cogage TRUE Spirit HSF

Although for future reference: The Phenom 1090T + Crosshair IV mobo is not a good choice for the money since you can get the similar overclocking performance as well as features set out of the following setup:
$315 - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU + Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AMD 890FX ATX Motherboard

$175 cheaper than that 1090T setup but offers pretty the same performance.

i was never an ati guy anyway... $260 six core doesnt sound right...especially when it doesnt do that great compared to a quad core i7s. So thats one big problem gone.

Now all is left is cooling i guess. I looked at the Thermalright CoGage True Spirit you told me about, but im not really impressed with it. I would not mind spending more to get better cooling. I would def spend $80 if i knew it was worth it on cooling.

How come you're not impressed by it? Its performance is roughly the same as the $70 TRUE-120.

Well since the Phenom II X6 1090T is at best about on par with the i7 940 I would say the first option better and cheaper.

i guess you are right, sorry to jump the gun lol. I just never heard of it and just looked at like one review. But overall price/performance wise its not any worse than a $70 so i will go with it. Thank you Danny Bui and sorry to dismiss you helpfulness :)
