New Nvidia price drops

I just recieved an HX620 today, and all it had was 2x 6pin PCIe cables. Is there an adapter or something?

That's bizarre.. Bought my HX620 late last year and it came with 2x 6+2 pin pci-e cables.

Hmm.

I would shoot a PM to the Corsair REP in the PSU forum.. he will more than likely send the cables to you free if you're nice about it.

RamGuy (or whatever his name is at "asktheramguy") will send you the cables for free.
He may even ask you to RMA the unit but it seems most likely that someone put the wrong cables in the bag...

I dont think he put the wrong cables in the bag. I bought it from a forum member. He said it was for a build but he ended up not doing it. When i opened everything seemed sealed, like new. Even neweggs description says it comes with 2x PCIe, which i thought was 6 pin.

6+2...does that mean you can remove the extra two plugs from the 6 pin portion?

Im kinda confused now, ive read elsewhere that it comes with 8pin connectors.

The 6+2 connectors have the +2 part attached and "hanging" off the main 6.
I meant at the 'factory', the wrong cables were put in the box.

If i was a TROLL i would have been banned long ago...so clearly i am not.... Dont be upset with me cus i champion the little man.... People listem to me they will have a fast rig and change to take the old lady out

they listen 2 u..they will have a fast rig ... about 3 times the price they should pay and no money to buy a box of lemonheads

Dont hate me because i am beautiful

Or dont listen to you,buy 3 at full price, smile and take the old lady out, stop by your house and take your old lady out then send her home to you around 3AM with a box of lemonheads..you know,so you dont get that wierd taste when you kiss her..;)

Thats what i thought about the cables...the seller said the PSU was bought recently, i dont suspect him of being deceptive, i know mistakes can happen at the factory.

Game. Set. Match.

lol poor 280 suckers! ... but hey if you were able to get a good deal on one, then more power to you , but if you bought one for 650 haha I have no pity for you :p

Maybe to them the extra money spent was balanced by the time they have been able to spend gaming.

I have the money to blow on a $650 gpu if I really felt like it. Something in the $300 arena is more my speed. Somehow I just can't justify spending that much on something I use to play games. I would rather spend it on an ACOG or maybe a new rifle.

ah well... its not always about sticking to one company and buying their newest cuz its their newest

But unfortunately, there is also a subset of those described above. These folks are bizarrely fixated on those who are able/willing to pay more. They seem to really have a hard time with the fact that some people don't agonize about needing to get a price adjustment on their hardware two weeks later or needing/wanting to ebay and trade up if something much better comes out a month or two afterwards. So, this strangely obsessed subset of otherwise fine folks, makes thread after thread, and post after post containing passive-aggressive attacks on those who they so clearly resent. All, of course, not-so-subtly disguised under a false cloak of smarmy "concern" and condescension. After all, why attack someone directly and call them "stupid" when you can "fly under the radar" and make post after post saying that you are oh-so-sorry that they stupidly bought something that you never would have bought.

Pure poetry, I wonder which cretinous forum goer you are referring to

I was missing the 6+2 cables for the 620HX as well (oler models didn't have them) but you don't need to RMA or anything. Just email them (or PM a rep on this board) and they can set it up for you. I think all I paid was shipping (like $2) or something for 2 cables. Heck, I don't even know if I paid anything really

Its unfortunate that being obnoxious and egocentric are not against forum rules, otherwise you would have been banned long ago.

defiant i see alot of pontential in you....

When i form the new [H] ard|WOLFPACK..... i might come to u to be my right hand.

Yeah, but who wants to flash their GPU bios and potentially brick the card. AFAIK, that is not a manufacturer-supported option. I've heard of dying 4870s as a result of these bios flashes, so that doesn't leave me with much confidence.

That's what I said.. I'm not going to flash my card because it's too risky :) But it *can* be done, meaning that fixing idle power draw isn't going to be a problem for ATI. Rivatuner apparently supports this now. It's not manufacturer supported, but it's 100% software and 100% safe. ATI will likely set the idle clocks lower in the driver, possibly already in Catalyst 8.7. They have said they are going to improve powerplay in future driver updates.

Poor people who bought a bunch of them at launch and are trying to sell them on Ebay for $800. :( What will that do when the next gen hits? Will they not try to buy out the entire inventory again?

Ask any major custom computer retailer, I bet they tell you rule number one is to never inventory,

rule two being: never inventory

This price drop is all rumors for now, look at the egg they must not have gotten the memo, because their GTX-280's still selling for $599;

Fry's did not do a price drop either

Maybe they'll try to drag their feet as long as they can, until 4870x2 is actually available to the masses, they are not too happy about price drops i guess

I thought this drop was happening at end month/begining, when the x2 comes out

Ya, I've been using this PS for a long time now and it's 2x 6; not eight. SHould I just call corsair up directly or does anyone have a link.

doh, NM, I just checked and indeed there are 2 hanging off of there, lol.

Fair enough.

It seems some people dont get Pope Golds sense of humor and just put there panties in a bunch at every turn.
CHILL OUT.
Regarding the thread I will say the I still feel the GTX280 is too high in price but the GTX260 is looking very attractive now. If they could push the price down lower it would be the better buy hands down.

I wonder how far the 260 could fall? I think we're close at 300. I could get the 260 (bfg oc) at best buy for 300 right now and put it on 6 months interest free.

The power management of these cards and lower temps (plus nvidia drivers and benefits) has me eyeing this card if not the 280; but I'm the sort that could wait around for a version with better cooling or even the die shrink down the line as I don't really need anything right now.

Still, the upgrade jitters have me in their talons...

Thats only at one end though, correct? My PSU only has 6 pin sockets on the actual power supply itself.

If you could even call it a sense of humor, its more like we get it, we think its stupid and childish, and dont much care for it.

usually dudes who get alot of women and enjoy life...dont have a problem with me.... they too mellowed out from the good life they take it light

the rest...they really get mad... like i made that girl turn them down...

but back on topic... the 260 is much more attractive now.... at 299

Why the hell do you always compare hardware to partying & gallivanting like you have a testosterone saturated brain, much like a pubescent teen boy?

HES FRIGGIN KIDDING AROUND.
Its not like he really means it.
God the internet can be so stupid some times.

Yeah, it's like this gnat flying around.

Sure it's harmless.

But fuck, it gets annoying after a while.

I learned a long time ago that its not ok to hate certain types/groups of people. Therefore I adopted the hate them all style and now, noone can feel excluded

When i started this thread i didn't have this in mind. Well, at least i learned something today - don't start new threads :p...

Can you flaunt and brag more?

Probably :D But it was meant for perspective.

HX620 does have an 8-pin PCIE.
In fact, it has two.

That's what I had read too, but there was an undocumented revision. Early versions shipped with 6 pin cables because the 8 pin cables weren't out yet. The "new" HX620's ship with the 8 (6+2) pin cables, but mine didn't. Supposedly early adopters can get a free upgrade by sending a note to RamGuy, but I didn't get a response.
