My Gigabyte P35-DQ6 just died and I replaced it with an Asus P5Q Intel P45 Motherboard.

I was running a stable overclock on my gigabyte board using the gigabyte p35 overclocking guide from the link below.

Is there an Asus P45 overclocking guide for my new motherboard? Can someone help me out and tell me what I need to disable or enable before I start the overclock? ThankS!

This thread has a lot of info about the P5Q boards: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1309712

Aside from that, just do what you would normally do to overclock. If you need help with any specific settings then just ask in that thread, but in general it's all pretty straightforward. As for settings to enable or disable, you should make sure that Load Line Calibration is on. I also suggest you leave EIST and C1E both enabled, since they don't affect overclocks and will save power when your system is idle. All the other settings are pretty standard and should be similar to what you're used to from your old Gigabyte board.

They aren't any different really. The options are mostly the same, just in different places and maybe called different things.

Ok thanks I will try it

I'm a bit confused on the FSB stuff.

I am using DDR 800 memory. By default the FSB is at 266mhz. Do I leave it at 266mhz or change it to match the memory?

Changing the FSB will change the CPU speed. If you want to change your RAM to its rated speed, you will have to adjust the memory frequency setting instead. Changing the FSB will also technically raise the RAM speed, but it will also overclock the CPU.

If you can figure out exactly what you want to do, it will be a lot easier to help you out.
