okay I have an i2500k with a p68a-ud3-b3 mobo from gigabyte. Just recently purchased a used Asus p8z68-v pro/gen3 and replaced the gigabyte mobo but now the computer won't boot past the windows logo. What should I do? I reset the CMOS and used the memok from The mobo. I Went into the bios and also reset everything in bios to optimized settings. But nothing seems to work :'( please help

I really don't want to reinstall everything again lol please help!

Did you make sure that the SATA modes in the BIOs are matching? I.e the SATA mode on the Gigabyte matches the SATA mode set on the Asus?

I agree with you. Using factory defaults, the Gigabyte mobos without a true EFI implementation (this includes most of that company's Z68 mobos) default to IDE in the SATA mode while the Asus boards with UEFI default to AHCI. The two modes are not fully compatible with one another.

You may be stuck with having to reinstall. When I swapped out my motherboard recently it wouldn't boot passed the "Windows Starting" screen so I reinstalled and it fired right up.
