Hello, this is my fourth mATX build in two or so years. Just posting for comments and suggestions. :p

Case: HEC 6K28BBOH48D w/ 485 Orion PSU
CPU: Intel E8400
MOBO: DFI LP JR P45-T2RS mATX

I am keeping the CPU at stock until I get a better PSU and CPU cooler. I also plan to upgrade my case to a Sugo SG4. I have my HD 4850 at 690/1188. My temps for either component haven't went over 60C yet.

Please post comments on what I should do with future money on this build, excluding i7.

That DFI board is the best mATX board out there. Period. Out of curiosity though, why did you go with a 1GB 4850 instead of the vanilla 512MB? Also - why the cheapass hard disk?
 
Get a new PSU ASAP like the Corsair 450VX. That PSU that comes with the case does not seem trustworthy at all
 
I went with the 1GB version because Newegg had a deal, and I run at relatively high resolutions, but mostly because Newegg had a deal.

I will be getting an OCZ PSU, because I am an OCZ fanboy. It is either the OCZ or the Silverstone 500w that is made for the Sugo SG4, but I don't know if 500w is enough for crossfire?

Which OCZ PSU and which Silverston 500W PSU?
 
I also want to know why the choice in hard disk. You can get a 320GB WD Caviar for like $55 nowadays and it's a really good performer.
 
The ONLY thing this computer will be used for is gaming, I don't need anything more then an 80GB. I have a 1TB external for my designing applications and a Macbook Pro that I design on. :p

It's just that particular drive is slow. Hence the curiosity as to why you chose that drive.

I would go quadcore bro (q6600), and i think the coolermaster C5 is the case to get

He already bought the parts and he's looking for a small mATX case, not a ATX case like the CM C5.

Just like the other people said, get a good 320GB platter drive like the WD Blue, it will give you a pleasant boost in gaming performance. It should lower loadingtimes and filter out some ocasional loading-stuttering.

Regarding the case... I like the NSK3400 for high performance parts. Mainly because the 4850 stock cooler gets hot like nothing else on almost every card during load. Plus you can fit as good as every 120mm cooler there is inside the 3400 if you have a enough clearing between the socket and the boards edge. Plus 120mm + 92mm fans for ventilation rocks! Bad parts about it is that it's a little cramped in the PSU-departement and is best used with a modular 80mm fan PSU like the Neopower HE.

The thing I do not like about Cases like the SG04 is that the PSU is forced to suck up the hot air and your good cooler-choises are heavy reduced.

I was actually going to buy the Antec NSK but decided to save some money that I needed to upgrade later. If I am going to get another HDD, it is going to be the WD Velocirapter or maybe a SSD. I am wary on SSD though because I have never owned one. With the Sugo SG4, I would be using the Silverstone Nitrogon CPU cooler as well.

PS: I didn't go quadcore because I have a friend who has a Q6600 and an 8800GTS G92 and I wasn't impressed with the gaming performance. So I decided to stick with the dualcore era until software becomes widespread that takes advantage of quadcores. :p
 
NT06 lite will not fit the JR unless you cut/trim the backplate or get a new backplate. A screw from the mofset sink interferes with it making it uneven.
 
I did not know that about the LP-JR, thanks for that, as I was considering getting one at some point.
 
NT06E will fit, at least it should fit without a backplate change. Enzotech Ultra will also fit if you want that, though the fan is pretty trashy. Get my SG01 end of the week and NT06E next week so I'll see how things go then.

What do you think is the BEST cooler the DFI JR will accept. I don't care about changing the backplate or whatever, I just don't want to cut things. I might just end up getting a nice mATX tower and maybe fitting a TRUE, but I don't know if the JR will let it?

Well it'll fit a TRUE (pvhk has one on his), but you'll be looking at ATX cases or custom/modded cases. I managed to stuff a S1283 into mine, but that luxury comes at a hefty price tag. When you think SFF you should not have in the back of you mind uber-tastic performance. Compromise is what SFF [also] means. If you're going for a tower and want HSF options, I'd point you to the ATX arena and to not bother with mATXs (p180 mini tower is basically the size of its big brother p180/p182..)
 
I am pretty sure there are loads of mATX towers that will fit a TRUE. I am looking at a Cooler Master one that has an intake fan, that is what I am really looking for.
