Are you willing to consider a prebuilt system? Have you tried looking at bargain hunting sites like gotapex.com or slickdeals.net for specials on prebuilts?

I'd prefer to build the system... I'm not here to debate with anyone, but I will never buy another Dell.

why don't you save your money a little bit so you can afford a slightly better PC?

$179 - AMD Athlon II X4 620 CPU + ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO AM3 AMD 785G mATX Motherboard
$94 - G.Skill Ripjaw Series F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL 2 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
$55 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$30 - LG GH22NS50 DVD Burner
$100 - Antec Sonata III ATX Case with Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU
$140 - Hanns·G Hi-221DPB Black 22" DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor

Total: $598 plus tax and shipping.

The above setup will more than fit your needs. You now have $100 leftover for a mouse and keyboard.

Would it be possible to find a good deal on a mATX case?

Thanks for your input Danny Bui

Would it be possible to find a good deal on a mATX case?

Do you want a mATX tower, box, HTPC style or what?

@ Rx_Matador
The NSK 3480 isn't that good of a deal from Newegg since its $110 once you factor in shipping. The Antec Sonata III shown above has a larger PSU for $10 less.

With that said, if you get that that Antec case from Amazon.com with free shipping, it's a decent deal. Not good bud decent enough:
