New Machine Not POSTing

I just received my order from Newegg and my machine isn't POSTing, or even beeping to tell me of a problem. I get nothing with everything plugged in or everything taken out but the processor and every combination inbetween. Everything powers up, though. But there's no POST, and the CD drive and hard drives just keep reading at the same few second interval, not really doing anything.

My old parts still work for sure, as I tested them again afterwards.

I won't have another processor to test until Saturday, when a friend is visiting.

I'm the "Friend" visiting Saturday and the only thing I could've thought is a bad CPU. The big question was the Power connector requirements (which he bought a new PSU for). Anyone have any suggestions?
 
Just an FYI, you chose a really low-end PSU. I wouldn't trust that with your current or new system. So replace it ASAP. It's probably not the cause of your problem but still worth replacing.

Anyway, try these troubleshooting steps that I've ripped from Enginurd:

This is basic troubleshooting if your system has never POSTed (as in, you just put it together); Though, it may be helpful to others whose system no longer POSTs...
If you have both the 20/24 pin main ATX connector plugged in, AND the 4-Pin (or 8-pin) ATX12V P4 CPU connector plugged in, then the board should boot fine (unless it requires more power connectors from the PSU). First, try clearing the CMOS w/ the proper jumper or button.

The next thing you could do is test the PSU. Jump start it (on the main atx connector, short the green wire with any black wire, using a paperclip), and see if it stays on. If not, then its probably a faulty PSU. If it works then you can proceed with the suggestions below. ***NOTE: The paperclip trick is a simple test for those that do not have PSU testers, multimeters, nor a spare PSU to test with. It is not a 100% conclusive test of the PSU.

How to test with a multimeter @ BFG

Setup everything outside of the case, with the mobo on top of its cardboard box. Plug in only the essentials:
- PSU (namely: main 20/24-pin ATX connector and 4-pin ATX12V P4 CPU Connector; The 4-pin should work in the 8-pin EPS12v plugs, too)
- CPU w/ HSF
- Single stick of ram
- Videocard if there is no onboard video (along with its power connector, if it has one)
- System speaker/buzzer (your board may have an on-board tweeter/buzzer/speaker)
- Monitor & Keyboard

Reset/Clear the CMOS by following the instructions in your mobo manual.

* Use a screwdriver if your board doesnt have an onboard power switch. Jump the two power switch leads to turn the power on.

If it won't post, try different RAM slots. If it still won't post, pull out the ram (so no ram in the system) and listen for error beeps. If none, pull the vidcard and listen for error beeps. If none, re-seat the CPU and HSF, then try again. Report back with results if you're still having issues.

Just so you know, it did exactly this with my old PSU. That one didn't have the 8-pin ATX12v connector, though. Could the board have gotten damaged by not getting enough power on initial boot?
 
Well, do what everyone else does.

Strip your system of RAM/GPU and disconnect every cable.
One by one put the cables back to where they belong till you have the essentials to boot the system (Mobo/cpu/RAM/GPU) and try and start it.

If it doesnt work, you can find a buzzer, hook it up (or soldier) to the appropriate place on the mobo (mine is lower right) and listen to the buzzes. Then look up the mobo website and error codes to find the problem.
 
Use the buzzer method then. Find some speakers, put the red lead on the + on of the buzzer and black on the negative and start the pc up. Count the beeps and write it down.

I assume you're talking about normal error beeps, in which case, my case's speaker was connected. There are no beeps, as I said in my first post.
 
Hmm...So it boots but no display? Check the monitor/cable. Try another monitor. I did that on mine once and for some unknown reason, it worked. My computer required lots of guess work. It hated going to lans as well.

But on the beeps, i havent used that for years so i thought it went through buzzer, nevermind then, my bad.
 
Heh, all the involved hardware works fine with my old hardware. Indeed, it's all running at present. I have my old hardware running in the open air as I got fed up with taking the new stuff out of the case and putting the old back in. I have, however, tried a second monitor. No go. So far, it seems the only path is to wait until Saturday when I can test a definitely working processor.
 
I find it on that the speaker isn't pushing out any POST beeps. Are you sure you didn't get the negative/positive reversed on the i/o port on your MB?
 
Well I don't think so... but I guess it's a possibility. I can try flipping the plug around.
