new laptop cant join my home network??

hey guys i just bought a new hp pavillion laptop w/ win media center. I joined the workgroup fine but then it gives me this error when i try to connect

"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of server for this workgroup is not currently available.

I have not set any restrictions on my network and my dad's computer also works fine when he joined my network. any settings im missing?

Are you trying to browse the network or add the MCE PC to the workgroup "MSHOME" ?

If your trying to browse the workgroup, youll need an account on each of the other PC's that matches the account and pw on the MCE PC (and vice versa for the others to access your MCE PC)

im trying to add the computer to the workgroup "mshome"
it wont let me view workgroup computers or even map
