New Guild Wars 2 Trailer

This looks really good I have to say.

I never tried guild wars because I cant stand the idea of a heavily instanced MMO, the idea of MMOs in my mind is to make large persistant worlds where players are part of a populace of players who they can interact with. Simply having well populated hubs and then most content instanced doesn't really cut it for me, even if it's free.

So really it depends how this works in guild wars 2, if they get over that hurdle I will definately try it out, it honestly looks really good, the 1080p vid was cool :)

I thought guildwars 2 was suppose to have a real MMO open world, unlike guildwars 1

So nothing is instanced in GW2?

I find that hard to believe especially for a free to play MMO, either that or servers will be really small? Hmm need more detail really.

I'm sure some of it is instanced just like how some of WOW is instanced... but as far as the world, it's persistent just like WOW. They've stated this since the announcement of GW2... and I'm pretty sure they also mention it in the trailer in the OP.

Oh and F2P has other ways of making money than monthly fees...

Guild Wars one was fun but quickly bored me. This looks...different. Definitely one to watch.

Dungeons, home instance (where stuff changes for you depending on stuff you did), etc just like how WoW works.

I played the first Guild Wars but not the expansions and I thought it was pretty fun, never beat the last 3 main missions though. It had a lot of flaws but overall it was very enjoyable to kick back with a few friends and play it through.

Guild Wars 2 on the other hand look like they improved every part of the original Guild Wars and now have this absolutely fantastic looking game. This will be on my watch list.

Looks and sounds amazing. Hopefully they can pull off some of the dynamic world events that WAR failed at.

Wasnt a huge fan of the first guild wars but this looks pretty promising.

This game has a pretty massive budget so it will be interesting to see how well the no monthly fees system works for them. I'm guessing a lot of pay to play content down the road after release.

Having said that. I'm as big of a gw fan as anyone and the no monthly fee system is the biggest selling point. The ingame footage looks better than any rpg out there and it will be interesting to see how thats implemented into a online server system like wow and everquest.

Man i hopw this game lives up to its hype, also u gotta wonder how this free to play model will work.

If they have minimal grinding I will look into it, I play for pvp, I hate that I have to grind to get gear to be good in pvp.

I really enjoyed the first GW, and this look order of magnitude better. This is definitely on my radar list of games to buy when it comes out.

I never found GW1 to be grindy at all. Most of the armor in that game was just slight upgrades that gave you that tiny edge. It's not like WoW where in Naxx we were doing 4k DPS and now in ICC we're doing 15K DPS.

Yeah but the first one was really boring, I played it for about 2 hours and I didn't like all the instances at all.

looks amazing ,i have to say though a lot of the characters look copied from the last remnant

I would say a lot of the characters from The Last Remnant were copies of Guild Wars art styles. GW truely has is own look and feel, or should I say .. had.

Am I the only one who'd do the chick game designer in the vid?

Not bad for a nerdy game designer chick

I never played the First Guild Wars... I am despratly looking for a MMO to get into. Either FFXIV, GW2, Or sigh... back to WoW.

These days I prefer a mix of common areas and instances. Common areas like towns and pvp areas where you can still interact. While I prefer dungeons and where most of the PVE occurs to be instanced. Never played GW1 will look into GW2 I guess if it is like this. Most of the mmos that are more action/active targeting based seem to follow this design as well perhaps partly due to necessity. Kinda bored with basically click auto aim type combat systems.

never played the first one... but whats the deal with this thing I keep hearing about, you can choose to start at max level? What the hell?

You can start a max level PvP character. The only thing is you couldn't leave the PvP area with that character. It was nice that your build and your skill level actually mattered, not the equipment you had.

I never got into the PvP of the original but I thought Guild Wars: Prophecies was awesome. I played it constantly.
I didn't much care for the expansions, they lost me.

I hope the sequel gets a little more "traditional" on character development, but I'm sure it will be awesome if it's half as good as this video makes it look.

All discussions of water sports aside...

On one hand, I'd LOVE everything they describe to come true.

On the other hand I don't honestly believe in magic. ;)

Free, non-instanced, massively multiplayer, player actions having permanent impact, no grinding, no "swing-sword" "swing-sword again", all with exceptional graphics that are fluid from one end of the game world to the other.. ?

You'd have a better shot showing me a demo of flying pigs to be very honest.

There's going to be some SERIOUS catches if they deliver even 90% of what that demo states they are going for.

I'd LOVE to be wrong.
