Nice rig man. You've done well in you choises on parts. I still wonder how much it exactly cost you whilest knowing full well that I could not in the least afford a machine of such caliber. Good thing I am getting a part-time job this summer to help with my cashflow (Hey, working a comp store should not be too bad for the summer, so long as its not CompUSSR.). Once again, good job on the machine, and I hope you found the money for it.
All things are well now. I did the stupid thing of installing Far Cry and not looking for patches first. I installed the 1.3 patch and all is fine. Again, the wiring is fine for me and the rig is rock solid stable so far. I will post some benchmarks in a few days. Right now, what is bothering me is my wireless network. I had to install a repeater but it can't find my router even though it is pointed right at it with minimal obstruction. Oh back to square one.tjmaxwell said:

Glad to hear it's running nicely, but I'm sorry to hear about your wireless issues. I've run into similar problems in the past, and it always seems like there's never a rhyme or reason when it start working, it just does all of a sudden.
I can't wait to see some more pictures and look at some benchmarks. Did the system binder come with any benchmarks printed in it? How long was your overall wait, and how was the experience? I can't wait to get mine.

The folder it came with is pretty bad. All the info, different literature from all my equipment, disks, etc..were placed in transparent sleeves with holes so that they could be attached to the rings of the binder. Unfortunately because of the weight, the holes ripped. Luckily, Velocity Micro was smart enough to place velcro closures on the sleeves so nothing fell out but the binder itself was a mess. It also gave some basic info how to set up the computer and such plus your invoice. Plus it came with a bright colored official piece of paper testifying to the brutal burn-in through which the techs put the computer. It is probably true, because it has been very stable. They installed the latest certified drivers from Nvidia. I post more pics with benches later. I love the case. It is so easy to get into and very roomy. Perhaps I can tack up some of the cables. I will post close-ups of the cables. They are rounded and wrapped and very tight! Anyhow, the binder is certainly not what you get with Falcon Northwest or Alienware but you are also paying $2,000 less for my system than with either of the other two boutique companies. I wouldn't do the Alienware SLI because it seems very proprietary and they are using Xeon processors. Do they even have an SLI AMD based machine yet? The water cooling is neat though.
Overall I am pleased with my system. This afternoon after work I will tackle that network again. I think my problem is that I need to update the firmware on my Router so that my repeater can see it.
It cost 4 grand and some change, but it is paid in full. I had been saving money for almost two years. I basically buy a new computer and then start immediately saving for another so that I can buy as near to bleeding-edge as possible as long as my wife knows that I am not stealing money from college or retirement funds.Snobok said:

Would two Video cards combined be twice as effective?
Would the graphics be TWICE as better than one Video card?
or will it just handle things to be more stable? (as in handle bigger displays etc.)

To answer ShaitoLainen,
the two videocards dynamically split the screen into to based on complexity, and each render their parts frame by frame. Obviously, this will net a dramatic performece increase. This performence could be put towards increased visual detail, increased resolution for a bigger screen, or, just for plain extra FPS.

Nick Sabatino is correct. However, and unfortunately, it does not mean that I have effectively 512 mb of vid memory. The memory is not shared (if that is the correct term to used).

Then, just a few minutes ago, I got the email saying it was going into assembly. A few minutes later, I got the message saying it was complete. On one hand, I'm really excited that it's coming so quickly (shipped 8 days after I ordered it), but on the other, I hope they built it with care. After all, they say that the technicians spend a week building and testing your machine, which obviously isn't true. I'm especially nervous since SLI systems are so new and apparently buggy. Anyway, here's hoping everything goes well, and hopefully we can compare benchmarks soon.

The same happened to me. Don't worry. I do have good news. I have been able to test the system out with Doom 3 and Far Cry. Man, this system flies with those FPS games. In Far Cry I am playing with everything Ultra High 2x FSAA@1600X1200 and it plays like butter. I haven't been able to do any benchmarking yet because I am still having issues with my wireless network. I guess my walls are too thick.
I even added two 7dbi antennas to my router to burn through the bad spots but to no avail. Anyhow, once I am connected to the Net on my new rig I will benchmark. I can't play HL2 because I need to be connected to the Net for Source I believe. Even when stressing the system, it doesn't get any noisier so I am happy thus far. Oh and it took a little over a month for my order, but the parts weren't available when I ordered. I think the time frame is fine. Don't worry. My system has not BSOD or froze once but I have only played the two aforementioned games though. Still I am impressed. We'll bench soon enough.
Just an update. I haven't done benchies because I have only had time to steal a few minutes here and there for gaming, but I have played Doom 3, HL2 and Far Cry all at 1600X1200 32 bit and it has been silky smooth. I'll try to get some benchmarks soon.
The first of the benchmarks. More to come for those that are interested. I am doing these with no overclocking whatsoever and this score in particular was after playing around a bit on the computer and doing some Photoshopping so I could probably better this score.
Well, Maestro, at least you paid in full for the system. I paid about 55% of my rig ($700) and my parent paid the rest ($600) since they wanted me to be able to afford a good computer. I'm glad I had to pay for part of my rig as it is only fair. A friend of mine is getting 2 grand from his parents to build a computer, which I think is outlandish and silly (Hey, he should have to pay some of it). Next rig I build is completely out of my pocket. I hope you enjoy that SLI setup, it's a good one by all means.
I have the update to the speakers that you have or at least the newest version of the whole line. I have the 2.1 speakers though; not the 5.1. I just don't have room for all those speakers and wires. These actually didn't get as good a review as the previous Z series speakers but they are working fine to me so far.Jasonizer said:

Personally, I like building my computers rather than ordering them because I save money and learn much more that way. However, there is something about getting a complete system, plugging in it, and turning it on that makes you feel like a kid on Christmas, especially if its a high end custom build like yours.

Tuesday is the day for my rig to arrive. I can't wait! Your benchmarks look pretty good. I was thinking we'd break 20,000 in 3DMark03, but it's probably do-able with a little overclocking. What clock speeds were you running on the 3DMark05 test?
Assuming you got the Raptor DualX system like you said you did, it should've come standard with "advanced overclocking." I would assume that would mean it's clocked up at least to Ultra speeds. Did you notice what speeds they clocked it to?

All of those that broke 20,000 are overclocking both cpu and vid card. I did get 17,333 in AquaMark3 with no overclocking.

Nintendo and other great game compaines is where my heart is and that is not on pc. What is on pc is my air combat and first person shooters but thats not where my heart is.
I Love Nintendo!! I also Love Rare/Midway/Acclaim & (Lucas Arts to a certain extent).
For me to ever build a system like you I would be hard pressed to run it in my quite room. Right now I run a silenX 14DBA power supply with a Zalman low speed cpu fan and a single 14DBA case fan in my lianli aluminum rig. ati Silencer rev3. Your PC must be mind numbingly loud
I play doom 3 and half-life 2 in high quality with 2x8 and decent res's 1024x768/1280x960.
while rocking my old games(moh/desertC) to mad unnecessary resolutions of 1600x1200 4x16(sniper game).
I have not found anything needed past my system specs for anything including those I haven't mentioned like farcry/nfsu1&2...
But when you make all the money you could possibly need to buy computer parts I say great but take noise into consideration, ie. your case fans look loud and you probably have your cpu fan on high when it cools perfectly on low. You have the same case as me which is nice and quite. My putter sounds like a gentle summers breeze!
Don't get me wrong I am nuts for noise just when I wish for it! Hence why I own Z-680 Speakers!

Well with a 9800 Prop and 3200+ I wouldn't think that you would be in the market for a new pc; especially a SLI rig. That is one nice set-up. I can honestly say though that my rig is quiet. That is being subjective. It might sound horribly to you but it doesn't bother me. I guess I am used to lots of sound or something. I have noticed that my rig heats up quite quickly when stressing the video cards in games. My PC is used primarly for tactical shooters and sims with the occasional all-out shooter like HL2, Doom 3 and Far Cry.
I haven't been a console gamer since Atari in the 80's.

Meastro, did you ever get your wi-fi problems fixed? When I changed rigs this fall I had to update the drivers on my usb sattelite stations to get every thing to work. By the way, nice rig, we need more pics and more benchies.Also on a side note, I am also a father and grandfather and I know how valuable time can be.

Purchased through Velocity Micro. Yes, I realize I could have put this together for much cheaper but time is of the essence with me and I really didn't have the time and I had the money so I did it.
Unfortunately, no. I can surf the Net with my wireless network but it is unstable with lots of cut-outs. My speeds are fine but my signal strength is weak and it doesn't matter if I use a repeater or strong 7dbi antenae. I could have built it for him for $567.00 less but oh well. At least he has a "whole system warranty" which i don't do anymore since i no longer run a shop and don't build at all much anymore since going onto the medical field. I'm going NF4 with the ATI X800XL. If and "when" that damn card ever comes out. I also plan on using my Antec SuperLanBoy case and using WMCE and a TV tuner card (i will be using it as a quasi HT unit). Moving on to an LCD as well (19" Dell), and i will have a wall mounted Gateway 36" HD LCD TV next to the desk.

It really is a nice PSU and it has a controllabe speed knob!!!!!!!!!!!!!
