So now that my PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for upcoming games it's time for an upgrade. Thank you for all the people that post reviews of different products as it is very helpful:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly gaming (Skyrim, GW2, WOW) basic web browsing and watching movies
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
1500 - 2000 including tax and shipping.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
USA, NY, NYC. I do not have access to a Microcenter
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, PSU, MOBO, CPU, RAM, GPU, SSD, CPU Cooling, Monitor.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Keyboard, mouse, a Maxtor 250 gb drive and WDC 1 tera bite drive
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes, I'll be using the n00b overclock option on the new motherboards.
7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I plan on buying a Samsung S23A700D Monitor though I haven't seen them on Amazon or Newegg yet. I've had a really hard time with choosing a specific product even with all the research out there. I went to a Samsung store and saw a 120 Hz monitor. It looked great but I'm open to other suggestions. Resolution for the monitor is 1920 x 1080 23' inch. I don't care for 3D.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within the next 2 weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Raid for the SSD. Other than that nothing in particular.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I have WIn 7 Professional 32 bit OS.
Here is the list or products I have put together so far. I will probably buy from Amazon as they do not charge NY taxes but will be listing products here from Newegg for prices.
$160.00 Corsair Graphite Series 600T CC600TM Mid-Tower Gaming Case.
$170.00 Corsair Professional Series HX850 PSU.
$180.00 MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3).
$220.00 Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz.
$50.00 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 Low Profile.
$290.00 Sapphire Toxic 100312TXSR Radeon HD 6950 2GB.
$200.00 Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III.
$35.00 Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.
$450.00 Samsung monitor (estimated price)
$1755.00 Total.
Now this is probably more than I really need for my style of gaming but I want to be able to play Skyrim and enjoy how great it looks. I don't plan on buying another GPU because the games I play don't really need it so this can be scaled down. However, I hear the more robust Mobos are better for stable OC hence my choice. Also, I'm not out to blow money and am my no means rich but since I usually don't upgrade for usually 4 - 5 years I thought it would be a good idea to get highly reviewed products. Thank you for the help.
