New gaming PC

Good day all

I've been away from the gaming world for a while ( no I did not go to jail or anything ) and I'm looking to build myself a gaming pc.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, watching occasional movies (DVD / blue ray)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
2000 CAD, tx in, shipping in.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

Canada, Quebec
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Interl i7, 16GB ram, case, power supply, video card, SSD, HD 1TB, LCD 23".
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
None worth reusing
6) Will you be overclocking?
don't know, not sure I'm willing to gamble on OC anything, need to know how risky is it to overclook, your opinions are welcome.
7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
23" 1920x1080
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
NOW, maybe a couple of weeks, less than a month for sure.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
USB3, SATA 6Gb, SLI maybe down the line.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Nhaaaa, 64 bits for sure, not sure about Win8 thought, again, your opinions are welcome.

if mainly for gaming don't need the i7 grab yourself the 3570k, don't need hyper treading if you just gaming. then with the 100$ you'll save gettin the 3570k you should be able to upgrade the gpu from a 660, to a 660ti, you could even go 7950 its a little faster then the 660ti, but if you wanna add a second card i would rather go sli(nvidia's multi gpu setup) vs AMD's crossfire as nvidia's multi gpu drivers are just far more superior. other then that everything looks perfect.

Why do you have two different sets of ram in there? If you are going to go 32GB, I highly suggest getting a single 4x8GB set instead of two separate 2x8GB sets.... much less two entirely different sets, its not a good idea. While two of the same sets will work, a single set of four will work better, and mixing different sets is just asking for trouble.

Also that motherboard is rather ridiculous overkill, might want to look into something into the P8Z77 range, like the Sabertooth.

Might also want to look into the HAF X case instead of the HAF 932, the HAF X is specifically designed with mount points and holes for liquid cooling.

I am shocked you are going all-out like this on the CPU, Ram, and Motherboard.... but are scaling back the video card so much. You would get much much better gaming performance if you scaled back the motherboard/ram (Honestly, 16GB would be more than enough, and you don't need Extended-ATX unless you wanna do 3x or 4x SLI/Crossfire) and got a better video card, like the GTX 670 or the Radeon HD 7970.

Some of this is definitely repeating what others have said but they need to be repeated:

CPU wise, no reason whatsoever for you to get that 3770K since gaming is the only real high performance usage that you've listed. As such, you'll be fine with the Core i5 3570K since the i7 3770K isn't that much faster in games to justify the extra $100 for it.

As for the motherboard, there's very little reason to get that mobo. You haven't said a single thing that would require such a motherboard. From what you've said so far, you'll be fine with either the Asus P8Z77-V LK or the MSI Z77A-GD55 motherboards.

Not sure why you have two different sets of RAM but don't bother with the Dominator RAM. Dominator RAM offer no real world performance increase to justify their higher costs. Also note that if you insist on getting 32GB of RAM total, you will need to use Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8 Pro as Windows 7 Home Premium and regular Windows 8 are limited to 16GB of RAM max, even for their 64bit editions.

Of all the things for you to cheap out on, you cheaped out the GPU for a GAMING PC? See the problem with that? Up the GPU to the GTX 670 or HD 7950 at the very least

As for the PSU, you haven't mentioned that you're planning on triple or quad SLI/Crossfire so you don't really need that HX850. At most, and I mean at most, you'll be fine with the HX750. Hell you could get away with the HX650 even with plans for SLI.

SSD wise, considering all of the money we just slashed from the CPU, mobo, and RAM, you can now afford a larger SSD.

IMO, that case isn't worth buying. There are better quality, better bang for the buck, and/or better looking cases out there:

You're exactly right, like I said, it's been a couples of years away from the gaming pc, I'm seeking advice from people like you guys.

SLI since there's apparently a greater degree of smoothness with it.

Whichever is cheaper. That's pretty much the only thing you should be looking at. That and making sure it's rated at 1.5V or lower.

Yes since it gets you more space and slightly higher performance. With SSDs, the larger in size you go, the more performance you actually get.

I haven't played with Windows 8 yet so I'm just gonna recommend Windows 7.

Looks like Danny covered everything else so I just want to address the case... HAF 932 is an awesome case in terms of performance. Some people like it for looks depending on the person, but keep in mind that it is a rather LARGE case. Make sure that's not going to be an issue for you.
