How's it going everyone?
I'm going to be building a gaming computer next month and would like to get your opinions for the BEST top of the line hardware to get for this beast I'm building. All the way from the case to the video card.

I have no budget, just going balls out :D:D

Thanks!

well that's a very loaded question and I'm not sure, but I think this forum uses a format to get the ball rolling. You can imagine, these people have quite the imagination and well, despite your fortunate finances, might overestimate things a little bit. Suggestion, check out some of the signatures in and around here and of course, whatever is front page news is probably mid to upper range products.

What was your last computer? Parts? You'd be surprised how some 3 year old products are still in use.....example x58 platform! :)

Another example, my sig is a mix of old gen and new. Competes hardy. Someone might come along though, I just don't know what exactly is top of the line anymore because Intel and Nvidia have been making some solid products that have been standing the test of time.....lately.

2011 socket

1200W PSU Corsair, Seasonic or Antec

probably 2 dual chip GPUs for 4 way...I'll let the other guys argue about that

What resolution you planning to push with this...monitor budget?

Socket 2011 (max out the Mhz for best gaming)
GPUs, pick your flavor and get 4
Ram, all of it
PSU what you need +20%
SSD, get a PCI express SSD
Hard drive, fuck hard drives get more SSDs

lol, 450 :D

and @ OP:

5960X w/ L2N or phase change setup. Wouldn't go with dual Xeon, as this is for gaming.
ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
64GB ultrafast low CAS DDR4 RAM that'll make no difference except with benchmarking. For b-points, heatsinks or blocks for said RAM
2x Titan-Z w/ waterblocks & wc setup/loop. For extra baller points, Aquacomputer external cooling rad. For double extra points, buy the Titan-Zs at MSRP
5x 4K projectors set up in portrait
Mountain Mods or Caselabs case of your big baller choice. Or a ballin custom computer desk if you're big pimpin
8x 1TB Samsung 850 Pro in RAID 0 w/ PCI-e RAID Controller. Or if lettin it all hang out, 8X+ 1TB+ SAS SSDs w/ SAS expander as necessary
2X Intel P3700 NVMe PCI-E SSD in RAID 0
Bluray burner
$300+ mechanical keyboard. Or if you're big pimpin, $1000+ gold plated mechanical keyboard
$100+ laser mouse. Or if you're big pimpstylin, $1000 touchscreen sensor for your wall, and $20,000 budget for a maid/butler to touch stuff for you
$1000+ headphones w/ $1000+ DAC, or $10K+ surround setup
Webcam and mic for twitch broadcasting your build
Beer for getting drunk and setting up your loop incorrectly
... oh, and 3D glasses

Seriously? You don't really need much for a gaming computer.

Please answer these questions:

1) Are you going to overclock?

2) What resolution are you gaming at?

3) What level of visual quality do you prefer?

4) Are you going to use your computer for any "serious" non-gaming task (like 3D/video editing or running multiple VMs)?

5) How large do you want the machine? (This is a serious question as micro ATX and mini ITX have now become viable options for gaming systems.)

Buy the minimum amount of GPU you need right now and instead put the money saved into buying a better GPU when you need it.

SLI/CF can kindly F off when not actually necessary. Even with today's relatively slow GPU market compared to 5-10 years ago, they still change fast enough that you shouldn't dump too much money into them beyond what you need to get good performance right now.

Probably would want to add another 980 for 3 x 1440's
Could also opt for X99 setup as well but not sure if its worth it for gaming. Also full water cooling of course.

Thanks for all of the help guys! I play MOBAs, FPS and occasionally mmos. Looking for an EXTREMELY smooth gaming experience with the graphics all way up. Might overclock.

Maybe some of the choices below are overkill?

1.ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard OR Asus Z97-DELUXE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard?

2. I7 5960X w/ L2N OR i7-4790K

3. EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked Video Card x2 maybe x3 or should I go with a different video card?

Still deciding on which case and cooling.

we still need to know what resolution you are planning to push

I'm guessing since you are made out of money we are talking at least 3@1440 120Hz displays right?

You don't need Socket 2011, much less an Extreme Edition processor, for gaming -- especially with a "mild" overclock. Even a Core i7 processor is overkill for MMOs and MOBAs.

What resolution are you gaming at? You only need a dual-GTX 980 setup for 4K.

Wow, when I read the title of the thread I thought, " a computer for someone with no budget to build one"

Like a computer for the homeless. Maybe you should say "Unlimited Budget".
