new displays :D

something you need to realize though is most people won't even need a 30" display and will probably only be used by content creaters (graphic artists, page layout, movie editing) and even if they don't need the super duper gamer 3D card it WILL help displaying even in 2D
Unfortunately people in the high end of many of those things (except for page layout for example where color isn't critical at all steps) will not want to use an LCD. I don't expect these displays to be much better than what's already out there in that respect (although as with every new panel they should be an improvement). It will be interesting to see, I suspect many buyers will be those who buy many Apple products just because Apple made them. Lesser informed content creators will buy it just because it's Apple, assuming it will be the best.

That's been happening all along with the current displays even though in the past year it's been pretty absurd to buy them over a number of superior products on the market (that were also cheaper).

I don't know about the 30incher but I can't find many 23" TVs that can do HDTV res that are also small (I live in a small apartment) and light.

The Inno3D 6800 Ultra claims "Dual-link DVI support" as one of it's features... I have no clue if it's legit or if it could drive the 30" ACD..
I call bullshit on InnoVISION. How can the card have "Highest DVI output up to 1600x1200 resolution" yet it features "Dual-link DVI support". I suspect they meant just like every other 6800 card maker "Dual Sink-link DVI support".

I really enjoyed this article on LCD vs CRT Technlogy in regards to HDTV quality stuff.
http://www.ecinemasys.com/products/edp100/edp100_lcd_vs_crt.htm

While there may be "better" color solutions out there.. I find that this quote can say quite a bit about the progression of color calibration on LCDs these days.

"Certified systems are capable of producing proofs visually identical to the SWOP Certified Press Proof as defined in ANSI CGATS TR 001, Graphic Technology. ICS chose Apple flat-panel displays because they are the only ones able to provide the luminance and color gamut ICS needs to create an onscreen proof that has the same brightness and feel as paper. The 30-inch Cinema HD Display uses the same technology certified by SWOP."
