Not sure where I should put this. If you move it please tell me where...
1st let me say I do NOT have the skills to build my own desktop.
I am afraid of these out of the country computer mfgs.
It's becoming rather hard to find companies that make desktop computers.
Dell for instance won't let you specify what components you can have in a computer.
So I would have to compromise on one of their numerous models.

So how would I go about finding someone to build one that I can trust not to
put junk parts in the system. I am a programmer and need a computer that does
a little more than just read email.

Sure could use some guidance.
Thanks for any help.

If you learned to computer program, you could easily build a PC. Parts only fit together one way. There are awesome guides online. And its fun. You could build a great PC for cheap with used parts too.

What country do you live in?
What's your max budget for this new desktop?
What are you using this PC for?

Going to play devil's advocate here: If you absolutely cannot build a PC for whatever reason yet you still want the PC to have good parts, your best bet is to choose a specific company and have us create a build list with the parts/PC that company has available.

Alternatively, if you don't want to do any of the above, get a Dell business PC that's server grade. That's technically a way to ensure better parts albeit with a massive increase in price and more complexity.

Shankle,
This is the video I watched and decided to build my own two years ago.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw
Since then I've built a second PC for my kids, and two for friends. It is really like building with legos.
You can easily find the parts 2 and 3 of that video on their youtube page.

If you have the skills to tie your own shoes or make a grilled cheese sandwich, then you have the skills to build your own system. The biggest challenge is just figuring out the latest in PC technology, what's available to you and what you need for your purposes. That just takes a little research and a little time. You'd have do at least some of it even if you're buying a PC.

Take your time, do your homework, build your own PC.
