Wait, your parents ninja took your chair?

Anyway, I used to sit on a milk crate. Now I sit on a pile of dead hookers, for way less than 200 bucks.

I don't know if your located near any Costcos but if you are, check them out. I just snagged a great deal on an amazing Lane Leather chair for ~$200. It's incredibly comfortable, and it's something I could see lasting for plenty of time. For comparison, I sat on an Aeron that was right next to it, and I wasn't too impressed by its comfort after sitting on the Lane chair. I wish I could find you a link on Costco's website, but I havent had any such luck.

If your interested, but dont want to go out to Costco without seeing it ahead of time, I'll gladly snap a few shots of it for you.

Just finished taking a few quick pics of the box...

I have a Herman Miller mesh knock off chair... It's slightly better than most generic home office chairs but after 5-6 months I can barely sit on it anymore. I sit at a pc upwards of 12 hours a day and it just kills my back and neck. I have a herman miller in the house but it's not mine... It is a nice chair but just way too expencive for what it really is. If you can get one for 300-400 fully loaded it might be worth it...

Right now I am using one of these

For $16 it's not bad...

dude.. I love those yoga balls.. cool. I sat on one today for 30 mins and it felt very nice.

to the OP, if you can find a Herman Miller Aeron chair on ebay, go for for that.. I love mine! got it for 300 at an office liquidation sale.

I honestly think the Aeron chairs are overhyped for what they are. After sitting in the LANE chair and comparing it's price to that of the Aeron there really is no comparison. The Aeron isn't worth the ~$800 considering you can find something equally comfortable for 1/4 of its price.

Buy the LANE chair and you won't be dissapointed. I love mine, and I guarantee you will.

that shiz looks l33t, very cool. but a little beyond my price range atm. im fine with my situations $40 staples office chair. heh, fine but not too comfortable at times.

like it was stated before, i think the Herman Miller Aeorn chair is Way over hyped. my dad has one and i dont like it, there is no head support. head to costco, or try to find an office bulding that is closing

I sit on a herman miller aeron all day at work. They are nice chairs, they will keep you from killing your back, but as far as actual comfort goes, there are more comfortable chairs out there. The mesh is great, though, because they keep your rear end from getting sweaty during the summer. Office depot used to have a knockoff of the Aeron that looked very much like it and felt relatively good. Ive looked high and low for one, but it seems that it is no longer being made :( If you are willing to spend 250 on a chair, id suggest going ahead and upping that to 400 or so and get a used Aeron or a used Herman Miller Mirra or Celle, although the Celle is new and may be hard to find used. Both of them are substantially cheaper than the aeron and are nice chairs (but I'm a sucker for Herman Miller furniture, both new and antique)

Costco carries Herman Miller????

If you only have a couple hundred bucks I'd suggest just going to your local Staples/Office Depot/place that sells computer furniture and check out whatever chairs they have. I used to have a nice leather chair I got at Staples for under $200.

Should you decide to rob a bank, and you like a firm racing-seat feel, I recommend this:

I sat in one once and I can honestly say it's the chair I want to die in.

I got a nice faux leather chair from IKEA for 80$ a year and a half ago, works well for me.

whoa, thanks for the replies everyone.. megalomaniac: ill definetly look into that LANE chair, it looks pretty sweet and is in my price range, i'll head out to costco this week

Don't we all wish! I sit on a chair from Staples, It has like a 10 year warranty and has broke 3 times but they always send parts for it. Its pretty comfy.

Liquid_Cooled, am I seeing that right? Is that monitor actually mounted on the back of the desk?

I have been using a basic aeron for years, and I'm looking for something newer. I'm wondering why a top end computer chair can't have the same features as a Mercedes Benz car seat, which has pulse massage and active ventilation on loaded models. Someone could make a lot of money by putting those features in a office chair.

The hi-tech version of that is called the Swopper. Backless springy chairs can actually help the back - you slouch, you fall off. (But the yoga ball is cheaper by far.)

Ill take that basic aeron off your hands :D

I bought a chair from Office Depot at Xmas time, for 139 on sale. It is a leather reclining chair that looks a lot like the one from lane. It is the most comfortable thing I have ever sat in, and even has a pillow. It reclines to a true horizontal slope. I dont know if they carry it where you are, and I hate their site. I pulled the last 3 little cards on the demo one, so I will see if I can find the 2 I didnt use and give you a model/make. Wish me luck, I have a hard time finding stuff.

This is my new office (read work) chair, the Steelcase Think.

Awesome chair, but just as pricey as the HM's. I actually perfer this to the HMA though, as I used to have one of those too.

My home office chair unforunetly is nothing more than a $100 leather jobby from Walmart. :(

Nice chair!

I wish more chairs though had one wheel casters rather than the split 2. They seem to roll better on most surfaces.

I tried out a $220 Lane chair the other day at Staples. It was so comfortable I almost fell asleep sitting sitting in it. I'm temped to buy even though it is black leather and my wife wouldn't like it in the bedroom. Will maybe check to see if it comes in colors first.

The lane chair I have is amazingly comfortable and considering it's price the build quality is perfect. Everything from the leather to the casters feel high quality, and there's no comparison to chairs I've used in the past. Buy one, and I guarantee it will be one of the best computer-related purchases you ever make.

Im waiting for someone to bring the same chair I've got home. I get the feeling it's going to be a very popular chair...

:D

Hahahaha that chair is nuts! Air Massage, gotta love it, get some 5.1 sound going and that looks like the ultimate lazy-ass chair!

big balls for the win.

Not only are they comfortable and distribute your weight evenly throughout, they help you get a nice sturdy back and abs.

This may read like sarcasm, but I mean it as the God's honest truth-I'm an ex personal trainer and my physical therapist also recommended them.

Yep, and $75,000 engagement rings :) Not to mention they also sell fine plasmas and coffins.

That lane chair looks interesting, I might go look at it. I'm about to drop the dough on a Herman Miller just becasue I've used them before and IMO there is nothing better. However, I'm going to look at that Lane chair just incase it has better offerings that would suit my needs better.

Went to Costco after reading this thread and tried that Lane chair. OMG so comfortable. Puts my current chair to shame =x. Now to see if I want to spend $200 on the chair. Looks much nicer in person too.

i LOVE my True Seating Concepts chair for home. Im using a generic Staples chair at the office, and it sucks.

I also need a new comp chair, this blue folding chair sucks! Too bad I cant spend more than a $100 on it....

Herman miller has a production/testing building about 2 miles from my house, too bad I couldnt take a extra from there.... :(

Ill probably grab one on sale at staples or office max.

I've had a lane for a number of year (not sure of the model) - I had a wheel break on me. Rather than get another chair at office depot I contacted the company and got the part I needed. it's a great chair at a good price

I'm heading out after work and picking up myself the Lane chair.

I've been contemplating betweem this Lane and the Aeron chair, the Lane seems to be more comfortable but 1/4th the price... which is a great selling point... I would have more strongly considered the the Aeron chair if costco honored the 12 year warranty (they don't becuase they are not an authorized vendor) and if costco had the size "c" availible instead of just "b"'s.

$199 vs $799... pretty easy to decide. :) Backed with the costco gurantee, I can't go wrong.
