1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
I would like this computer to handle starcraft 2 and diablo 3 quite well. I am also using this computer to make music with ableton live as a hobby.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is 750$ after tax and shipping.

3) Where do you live?
I live in Ontario Canada. I am open to Canada computer/NCIX/tigerdirect/newegg

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

Two Seagate 250 gig Hardrives. The label on them is:
Barracuda 7200.g 250 Gbytes +5V 0.46A/ + 12V 0.56A
- In your opinion guys do you think these are too old/slow?

Have a legit version of XP but going to order the student steal for Windows 7 Pro. Do you think the sale will be on till mid july?

Your answer to question 1 is kind of confusing, you say its only for web browsing and other simple stuff but yet you want it to be able to play games on high? So you want a gaming computer...?

I would go with this general outline:
Phenom II X4 + Gigabyte 770T Mobo
G.Skill DDR3-1600/133 4GB
XFX HD5770
Samsung F3 500GB or Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
Corsair 400CX PSU
CM 690 II Case (pretty quiet with stock fans I believe)

-Comes to roughly like $650. Gives you some spare to upgrade to a nicer case if you want or possibly a more powerful GPU ( HD5850 would be my next step).

And yes I would replace those drives, especially when its only like $50 for a significantly faster drive. You can still use your old ones as storage though.

Wow my bad, I completely overlooked where you live haha, sorry! I stick by my choices but you can try to find the cheapest for each at your choice of canadian vendor (newegg.ca or ncix or whatever).

Those 250GB drives will be pretty slow. Are they PATA or SATA?
 
The HD are SATA.

I'm crunching numbers out and well there's about a 50 dollar difference between States and Canada which is not that bad, but what kills is the shipping and taxes 90 dollars. All this comes out to 825 Canadian. Gonna have to sit and punch out more numbers I think.

Hmm, well like I said, those drives are slow compared to modern SATA drives.

Wait, Newegg.ca charges tax you tax?

They tax the entire the subtotal with PST/GST which is now the HST.... Confusing I know. but its 13% of the sub total.'

So Total for all parts = 689.93
S&H = 40.27
Taxes = 94.92
TOTAL = 825.12

I'm currently residing in Kingston ontario. Gonna try canada computer and see if they can compete against it.
 
So I'm going to purchase in the next two weeks. So gonna start collecting parts. With the AMD phenom II 925 it came out to be 156$ after S&S from new egg. So I rather pay 7 $ more the the Phenom 955 and get something a little faster. As for case I decided to go a little cheaper and go for the Antec three hundred... having switched to a higher cpu. I am sticking to the mobo selection on the previous suggestion just because i have no idea. Also the powersupply is only 400W is this enough? let me know your opinions in general of the system.

Danny what do you recommend for a higher PS? Something that can handle a few extra drives and if i do decide to overclock the 955
 
A quick Google search indicated that the HDZ955FBGMBOX model (the second link) is the C3 revision of the processor, which is a reportedly better overclocker.
 
I'm ordering from bestdirect.ca since they offer free shipping and are friken cheap! Sadly they don't offer the PS that you guys recommended. I am just shy of free shipping since I am ordering the Processor at newegg since its about 20 dollars cheaper.

What kind of power source do you recommend from them around the 60 dollar mark and >400 W? I've provided a link below:
