New Build

That PSU is way overkill, unless you plan on going tri-SLI. you really only need 600-700W PSU for your setup. Do you actually use all of that 32GB ram and 16 threads? (I don't do 3D and Video Rendering so I am just asking as it seams like a bit overkill, more so on the CPU)

Look, if you're happy with that setup, just close this thread.

I can guarantee you that you're more than likely not going to like us listing all the things wrong with that setup since it appears that you're looking for praise, not opinions. I am also willing to bet that since you already have the system built, you're not going to return anything even after we tell you all the wrong things with that setup.

So yeah, close this thread and just be happy with that setup.

I've had the Corsair AX1200 since 2011 in my previous build ("AMD FX 8120 | ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA | 16GB DDR3-1333 | Intel X25-M G2 80GB | Corsair AX1200 | Samsung F3 1TB | 2x Radeon HD 6970 | ASUS V238H 23"") -- so i am just basically trying to save money there by carrying it over because it can't be returned. DaVinci Resolve can make use of a lot of ram even at 1080p, and i'm hoping to use this build for at least as long as my 2011 - 2015 one

Excellent choice for PSU and makes even more sense given he had it from before. He is clearly planning for the future when one day he may decide to drop in another 780 ti (or 2 more).

Buying a gimped psu is a big mistake if you want a balls to the walls system with maximum potential upgradeability.

Good job Erek.

Yes.. if you are using Adobe AE you can specify XXGB ram per thread. I have 64GB total and have went well over 50GB used + an 8GB ram drive. Of course i had some other apps open too.. photoshop, firefox, email, etc... and i was only using 10 threads. If he uses 14 in the same situation he will fill up that 32 in not time.

In my case i was able to get 64GB ram for under $350 back then.. now it is much much more cost.
