New build

Need to do a new build as my house was raided and my pc and laptop were stolen.
New changes, I got paid out but my deductible came into play, I have about 2k for a new pc atm. Changing Budget.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Web browsing, programming, some video conversion, 3dsmax, softimage, photoshop, gaming.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
2000, yes and yes

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, psu, cpu, ram, ssd, bdrom, video card, keyboard, mouse

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Have a 2TB WD green with my personal files on it that will be living in this machine.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes, Would like to try and hit some decent speeds. Maybe 4.5ghz?

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Buying a new lcd with this computer, 1080p+

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
1-2 weeks

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? etc.
Raid would be good, No need for xfire or sli. USB 3.0 would be nice. Sata 6gb yes. esata nah.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, win7 64.

Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully things work out and you get your stuff back.

Anyway, on to the critique:
- Ditch the 2700K: It's a total waste of money, especially if you're overclocking. Drop down to the Core o7 2600K instead. Only get the 2700K if A) you can get it for less than the 2600K or B) You like to waste money.

- The RAM you chose will have clearance/fitting issues with the HSF you chose. So I recommend this Corsair RAM instead:

- As for the mobo, please answer question 9 so that we can better ascertain if that mobo is the right choice for you.

- PSU wise, you don't need anywhere near a 850W PSU with that setup. You would be fine with this (still overkill but better priced) 750W PSU instead:
$140 - NZXT HALE90-750-M 750W Modular PSU

However even if you wanted to go completely insane on the PSU, that Seasonic isn't the best of choices considering that larger Corsair 1050HX costs the same:
$210 - Corsair HX1050 1050W Modular PSU

- Monitor wise, I highly recommend asking about that monitor choice over in the Displays subforum for better advice.

Also, wouldn't recommend that mouse for that price. At $90 it already surpasses most gaming mice by brands such as Logitech and Razer, and it honestly has nothing special functionality wise. In fact, if i remember correctly, for the Sensei SteelSeries basically took a production Microsoft mouse, upped the DPI, added some LED lights, a new exterior, and increased the price four fold.

While the mouse claims to have 7 programmable buttons, keep in mind this includes the left and right click buttons, and scroll wheel. In actuality, there's only 5 buttons not found on a standard $5 mouse, two left, two right, and one top.

The mouse itself isn't ergonomically designed either. In fact, the only real drawpoint of this mouse is the fact you can light up 3 custom zones with whatever color you want, and you can make your own logo on the LCD. Keep in mind, while in use you don't see this LCD.

For a more functional gaming mouse, I'd suggest you look up either a Razer, Logitech, or, my personal recommendation, a Saitek Cyborg 7/9.

Well, Looks like I got my system ordered.
I went with the 2600k, asus maximus IV gene/gen 3 mobo, 16gb corsair LP ram, 7970, crucial m4 256 ssd, in-win buc 101 case, seasonic platinum 860 psu. I plan to get another 7970 or a 7990 at some point to make Eyefinity happen. Dell u2412m. Very happy with the system and its rock solid stable and much faster than what I expected/needed. Thank you for your help all
