I am starting a new build and trying to figure out a PSU for it. So far I have come up with 870w recommended, and 760 used, according to an online calculator. Any help with choosing a PSU and changes to the set up is appreciated. The reason for water cooling is to keep the noise down for the wife. If she's happy then my life runs smoothly.;)

Apevia X-Qpack (I included this because of fan location on the PSU)
DFI LP JR 790GX-M2RS
AMD 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz
CORSAIR TWIN2X4096-6400C5
VelociRaptor 150GB
Barracuda 160GB
DVDR combo
2) 4870x2
Water cooling
120mm fan
80mm fan

Thanks again for the help.

Cheers,
Jeremy

I would not go with the GameXStream PSU. It's based off the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for a PSU that can kill your system?

But the Silverstone is a decent choice. However, I recommend going with this PSU:
BFGTech BFGR800WESPSU ES-800 800W PSU - $140

Already cheaper than the Silverstone without having to deal with any sort of rebate but comes a $40 MIR and there's a promo code, which ends on 10/31, that knocks off another 20% off the price of the PSU. It's a steal!

It also got a excellent review here:

Thanks for the help.

I have a question about the fan location on the above suggetions. Wont the fan blow directly into the top of the case and overheat? Or should replaced the clear cover with a mesh matterial? I dont think its as simple as turning the PSU upside down. <---Thats probably a dump question.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Just have the fan point down (i.e sucking air in) towards the video card and you'll be fine.

Thanks. I didnt know if i could do that. I havent built a system in 8 years. Definately time for an upgrade.
