Anyhow, I just got back from microcenter new cpu MB Ram

Just having baaaad luck trying to get a gtx680
It's the only thing missing from my upgrade build..

I am tempted to just setup what I have with my old 8800 gts512 until I can get a 680

Atleast the cpu and more ram will be nice...who knows the built in video might even be faster than the 8800 lol...

Can I use the 8800 and when I get the 680 just put it in and not have to reinstall or will I need to wipe the vid drivers and reinstall em? just thought maybe since they are both nvidia it might be that easy.

Got:
INTEL CORE I5-3570K
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H 1155
SAMSUNG E 8GB 2X4 D3 1600 DIMM (some guys on here swear by this stuff and it was in stock so im gonna try it)
Hyper 212

gonna use my old HD, PS and Xfi sound card.

You should be able to.

What PSU will you be using?

Ahh good.

Anyway, digging a little deeper into this, I don't think you'll be able to do what you want. It appears that the GTX 680 has a newer set of drivers than what was provided for the 8800GTS. The latest driver for the 8800GTS is version 296.10 whereas the GTX 680 has driver version 301.10. So wipe and reinstall the drivers when you get the GTX 680.

These refer to the latest WHQL drivers. There is a newer beta driver version, 301.24, that is compatible with the 500-series and older GeForce GPUs all the way down to the 6-series as well as the GTX 680. The 301.24 betas are the first NVidia driver version that supports both the new GTX 680 and the older GeForce GPUs.

Hey Danny, wanted to thank ya. I had a few posts and you helped in my build.
It's now complete and I absolutely LOVE it.
I don't have a single complaint. I wish I knew how to oc with this gigabyte board better but I cant complain..It's at 4600 atm stock voltage. (Just changed the multiplier...think that is what it was..to 46)

Got the gtx 680 finally and grabbed a ssd when the 256gb dropped to $199 on newegg.
That memory is tiny but seems to work great just like everyone says it does.

Anyhow thanks dude!!

Good to see that your PC is working fine!

And you're welcome :)
