Well, its been at least 8 years since my last PC build - I decided to get back into it and ordered it today :D Here is the complete PC:

Case - Antec Eleven Hundred V2
CPU - Intel i5 4690k Devils Canyon LGA 1150 Unlocked
Motherboard - Asus Maximus VII Hero
Video Card - MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
PSU - Corsair Professional Series HX850I 850W
SSD(Main drive) - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
RAM - 8GB(2x4GB) Mushkin Enhanced Redline FROSTBYTE DDR3-1866

The RAM wasn't exactly what I wanted, but for the price I can always upgrade it later on. I plan to be playing WOW and Skyrim with this.

Let me know what you guys think.

Should be plenty for skyrim, haven't played WOW in forever. :p

These threads never end well.

Why so? I am excited about my new build and was sharing it with others. This is not a 'what should I build' thread - it's a 'this is what I ordered' thread. Don't sure why this would not end well?

Because people post these threads looking for approvals or a pat on the back when they end up getting told and shown how they could have spent the money better for better real world performance.

If you're happy with the build then you should just leave it at that.

Buddy, no offence, but I've been around here long enough to be able to accept criticism and know how people here respond. If I wasn't ready for positive or negative criticism on it, I wouldn't post. I don't need a pat on the back, Ive become successful in life without it...a PC build isn't going to change that.

Well for the money you spent way to much on the motherboard. Seeing your previous build help thread nothing you said in that thread pointed towards needing a motherboard of that caliber when one over half the price would have done just as well. So you could have saved easily $125 on that.

The memory, as mentioned in that same thread, was most likely over spent. Limiting yourself to 8GB in two slots limits your upgrade potential without replacing the RAM entirely. You'll see little to no performance increase with going with 1 stick, 2 stick or 4 sticks of RAM. Not to mention the speed of the RAM wont be noticed at all, but a lot of times the faster RAM is discounted to around the same price as DDR3 1600 RAM anyway. Since that RAM is currently nearly $100 on Newegg.ca and a much cheaper single 8GB stick is around $75 that's $25 you could have saved.

That PSU is way overkill for your needs EVEN if you were to go SLI in the future. The GTX 670 does not consume much power at all. You could have got a much smaller wattage unit for a lot less money. I see that its somewhere around $190 on newegg.ca. I bet an equally quality unit for around $110 could have easily been used instead saving another $80.

That's around $230 less for a system that would have lasted and performed exactly the same. However, with the additional $230 saved you could have easily went with a 500GB 850 EVO SSD and have an identical system with twice the storage space which is something you're more likely to run out of.

Other than that, it's a nice system that will play any game just fine at 1080P.

It turns out that you my friend are the reason posts don't end well. This guy was not looking for a pat on the back. He posted here because this is [H]! The last time I looked it a forums based on Hardware...Hence the [H]! It is also comprised of extremely helpful, tech savvy members that offer the best help you can find anywhere on the interwebz. If people took your advise to "leave it at that" then it would be a pretty boring site now wouldn't it?

Best of luck on your build OP and to me it looks like you have done well for the games that you play. best of luck to you.

You should have asked how much I paid for what - not everyone shops on Newegg.

The motherboard I ended up getting for $10 more than the Z97-A in a bundle deal - who in their right mind wouldn't get it for that price.

Ram was brand new $70 locally here. Also, I fully intend to replace the RAM when I NEED to.

PSU was $140 - Again, local store sale with a rebate.

As for the SSD, I don't NEED anything more. I paid less than $100 for the drive and its ONLY for the OS.

Thank you - this was my first thought. If everyone just bought PC's and never posted info, this forum would cease to exist.

Once again, like I said, I don't need a pat on the back for approval. I can easily afford the most expensive system available, but would be complete overkill and a waste of money for what I need. I explained what I was planning to play and what I bought for that.

OP said he handles criticism well. Therefore I criticized his build. I was not rude at all.

In your other thread you clearly stated that you'd be buying most parts off Newegg.ca since you're located in Canada. Sorry if I don't believe those prices, but anyone can claim to have spent less than what they actually spent.

This was before I went to the store this weekend and bought the parts. Newegg is always my starting point. I also had to state that as I was being required to post where I was located in order to get any 'help'. Why would I post my local computer store if people can't reference any pricing to it?

I could care less if you believe me or not on how much I paid. What monetary gain do I have by telling you that? Was merely a response to your assumption that I 'over paid'. Further proof that I don't need a "pat on the back". Also, overpaid is subjective to ones budget. I notice you posted that the 670 doesn't consume much wattage? I purchased a 970...

You've clearly taken what I said as not to be taken as offence, offensively. One things clear, certain attributes of this forum still haven't changed...
