First, here are the specs.
i7 920 2.66
Gigabyte X58a UDR-3
OCZ PC1600 6 GB Triple Channel XMP
Sapphire Radeon 5850
Corsair 850HX Modular PSU
Logitech G9
Cooler Master Storm Scout
LiteOn Blu-Ray/ DVD Burner
LiteOn DVD Burner
Cooler Master Hyper 212+
Samsung F3 1TB SATA HD
3 120mm and 1 140mm Case fan
I am doing not overclocking and currently the temperature are as follows
CPU 32c ( via Gigabyte EasyTune, so safe to add a couple degrees on that )
GPU 28-32c ( via both CCC and Sidebar gadget )
I first noticed the problem and it seems to only happen when flash videos were played ( youtube, espn, etc. ) Then I would get random reboots and it would run fine for a while.
Now when it does freeze, it is a hard lockup. Absolutely nothing works, screen only shows what I was doing before the freeze, no error messages or anything.
Tonight, I just noticed for the first time, that both my keyboard and mouse ( both USB ) lost all power when the system locked up. I was attempting to edit a photo in picasa this time. I've also tried several versions of the catalyst drivers, no luck with any of them. I think I'm currently on 8.61
I've ran memtest for 6 hours so I think I can safely rule out the memory as a culprit. One member on another forum said it could be the GPU since it was doing it during videos. I'm doubting that now since it did it while just being in picasa. I'm now leaning towards the PSU, but I really have no way to test it and I don't have another PSU.
These are the current voltages ET6 is reporting
CPU 0.96-1.04v
DRAM 1.648v
+3.3v 3.328v
+5v 4.972v
+12v 12.302v
In my bios I have the memory enabled for XMP, automatically sets clock rates
CPU-Z says the following on Clocks ( varies due to speedstep I think )
Core Speed 2796.6 MHz
Multiplier x 21.0
Bus Speed 133.2 MHz
QPI Link 2397.2
Core Voltage 0.96v - 1.200v
Memory
NB Frequency 3196.2 MHz
CAS 8-8-8-24
If you guys need any additional info, let me know.
Thanks
Tim
