New build issues

Hey all I just built the following new system:

intel i7 930 @ stock with stock heatsink
Gigabyte ga-x58-usb3
corsair ddr3 1600MHZ fan,
1tb samsung HDD, (from old build)
FSP everest 1010w PSU
ATI 4850 GPU (from old build)
LG sata Dual layer dvd writer.

I've been getting alot of issues with this in the past few days.

1. it wasnt recognisnig the RAM properly and when I set it to read from the SPD it wouldnt boot, got that fixed by reinstalling windows,

2. It doesnt like it if i try and set up a raid with a 2nd identicle HDD, windows installs but crashes on boot.

3. yesterday when i turned on the computer it wouldnt boot and gave me a warning along the lines of system cannot boot as Overclocking settings have caused the voltage to be too high, even though I havent overclocked the system at all.

4. turned it on today, booted to windows and it randomly turned off the system.

Any ideas what is causing these problems??

or any software I could use to find out? I've not build a new pc in years so im abit rusty

I'm currently running MemTest atm so far its all good bit worried it could be the PSU tho

Even if the PSU isn't the issue, I would still recommending replacing the PSU in light of this review:
FSP Everest 1010W PSU

[Testing the Hard Drive]
Download the CD image of Hitachi Drive Fitness Test, burn the ISO file to a CD, and then boot from it, just like you would do with the XP/Vista install CD. Test the hard drive and see if any problems are found. DFT will run on most manufacturers' hard drives. Alternatively, you can use Seagate's SeaTools for DOS to test a Seagate or Maxtor drive. For a Western Digital drive, you could use Data Lifeguard Tools for DOS to test a Western Digital drive.

[Testing the CPU]
Use Prime 95, OCCT, Orthos or Intel Burn Tool to stress test the CPU.

Though sounds a lot like an fauly motherboard.

Thanks man,

I'll test the HDD and the CPU once memtest finishes.

Hopefully the guys in the store didnt damage the motherboard when installing the compontents.

Oh just realised the HDD drive isnt even a month old so hopefully it isnt that

quick update, its started randomly powering off when booting into windows now

Go into the BIOS and reduce the memory divider and CPU multiplier, see if that gets you into windows.

thats the thing,

it does boot into windows and sometimes its fine other times it randomly powers off

memtest was fine, cpu test was fine and the hdd's came up fine.

makes me think PSU

Try a different PSU or a different motherboard.

I only have a corsair 550W psu which i dont think would be powerful enough to run the system while i check it.

also dont have annother i7 mobo

A Corsair 550W PSU will be more than enough for that system. In fact, that Corsair 550W PSU can actually provide more power than that FSP PSU under real world conditions within specifications and PC safety limits.

just got the following message when I booted the system up.

The system failed to boot due to overclocking or voltage changes. Settings changed to last known settings.

I'm now pretty certain its the PSU as I've not overclocked at all I've just used the extreme memory proiler (X.M.P) to set all settings to the SPD defaults of the hardware.

The system has rest the ram from 1600mhz to 1066 mhz and the cpu isnt at its proper clock speed.

for some reason I now cant boot windows so reinstalling for thethird time this weekend.

Should I take the PSU down to the shop I bought it in or should I bring the whole system ( bought everything minus the GPU and one of the HDD's from their.

I'm, just going to leave the whole system down to the store tommorow and see if they will refund me for the PSU
