My current ring:
Q6600 @ 3.2GHz
5850
4GB RAM
Antec P182 case, 650W Corsair supply, 1x500GB drive, 1x400GB drive
I have a friend who I can get $400-500 for the PC from.
I'm looking to build a new system and I'm just looking for some input on whether it's a worthwhile upgrade. I'll be playing BF3, Skyrim, Rage, Guild Wars 2, also do a decent amount of web development. I figure it will be but I want it to be a significant upgrade otherwise I'll wait until next year.
Here's the answers to the questions + the build.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly gaming, some programming/web design
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Hoping to stay around $1000 but should be able to sell my old rig for $400 or so
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
US, Wisconsin
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, ram, video card, case, power supply, HD, motherboard
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
N/A
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yep, hope to take the CPU to 4+GHz, doubt I'll touch the GPUs.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
24" 1920x1200
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
By November
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Crossfire support would be nice, don't care about firewire, must have USB 3 and SATA6
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yep, 64bit Win7
Here is my build, please note the dual 6870s, I'm interested in input there.. they seem like the best option right now. I want to be able to run Skyrim, BF3 etc at max at 1920x1200. I understand we don't know the exact specs required yet but I'd like to make a good guess at requirements.
