usb 3.0 would be nice but no nessecary, no need for sli/xfire

no win 7 64 bit need to be included in the price

I am thinking along the lines of a Haf912 case. I would like the processor to be a 6core amd so any advice after that would be great! Also have a gtx 260(200 core) but would like to upgrade that . I have a saved wishlist on newegg but i can't seem to figure out how to link it here even after i made it public.

Considering that you're planning on building around February, you're better off going with the Intel Core i5 2500K when it gets released for $215. Despite the lack of two cores, the Core i5 2500K still beats or is close to many of AMD's six-core CPUs even in heavily multi-threaded applications. Your budget should be able to fit a Core i5 2500K, even with the addition of the cost of OS.

In addition, since you're plnnaing on building in February, please come back and bump up this thread then. A lot of the builds we do here involve Neweg combo deals that either shaves off a lot of cash or allows for faster/better parts for the same price. Unfortunately those expire at the end of the month. So if you want the most to update prices/deals/selection, you're better off posting/bumping again in February if February is the earliest that you can build a PC.

Do you actually need all of the features of Windows 7 Pro?

Also, with the exception of the CPU, mobo and possibly OS, that setup looks fine.
 
The biggest feature from the pro i would like to have is the xp mode for some of those pesky programs that don't like win 7 for some reason. Not sure if my 3dsmax is win 7 compatible, if it isn't I realy can't afford to replace it.

You really should do some research as to whether or not the programs you're using will work in Windows 7 just fine. A good majority of the time, people don't use the XP mode of Windows 7.
 
I would suggest taking the 2500k and adding a SSD in there.

Or atleast getting a SSD at some point. You will see a much higher gain in performance with one over a slightly better CPU.

I had a very similar budget of 1200, and ended up spending $1,152.55.
The only real difference I came out with is I got a SSD, and a better GPU, while taking the slightly weaker 2500k.

But I also didnt have to buy a PSU.
